I ate carbs from last Friday until Christmas Day…and got a cold.

Third cold in 2 years - each time was following a few days of eating carbs.

Other negatives I’ve seen;
Crappy sleep
Mind racing over nonsense and stuff that doesn’t matter, and negative thoughts
Two dry skin patches started on my hands, but greasy skin on my forehead
Getting the sweats just lying in bed
After just the first day, I was thinking about eating all the time - not proper food, but thinking about what crap I had in
Ate until I was uncomfortable without realising it until too late
Woke up with my mouth feeling like it had a waxy film in it

For me, it just isn’t worth it. I didn’t even enjoy it ti be honest, except the roast potatoes…and those were cooked with beef fat that I save from what I cook.

When I say carbs, I’m mostly talking about sugar in this experiment - haven’t had much veg apart from the potatoes. I’ve had bread, biscuits, chocolate and some trifle.

I was planning on doing a full week, but when I woke with a cold yesterday I called it quits, so had six days when I had carbs.

Today, apart from the cold I’m feeling brighter except for a slight headache (I hardly ever get headaches…maybe 1 every 2 or 3 years, and those don’t sound too bad compared to what others seem to get).

With January coming up, I highly recommend to cut out sugar. If you don’t want to go carni, cut out things that obviously have refined sugar in them. Do it for a few weeks then you either won’t want to reintroduce them (I always did through my yoyo dieting years until I cut out fruit and veg aswell), or you will notice the way that sugar effects you.
If you lean towards vegs, do the same thing. It won’t be as stark a lesson though as vegs contain carbs in some form, which metabolise into glucose (as does protein from meat for essential functions only) or fruit into fructose.

Similar for me. I've had hardly any sugar in my diet lately but over Christmas I've had a load and had poor sleep and now got a cold.
Going back to very little sugar in the new year once I've got rid of all the crap I was bought.

Cows farting is a problem, vegans farting isn't, apparently
Farts of any description are never a problem. They've been a great source of human comedy for 250,000 years, especially in the bath. Cry-baby vegan piss-willies who are so physically and mentally enfeebled they have to be kept alive and carried by the rest of society are a very serious problem. They should either fuel up with real food and do a shift or crawl onto a compost heap and rot down with the rest of the vegetable waste.

BBC 4 at 9.00pm tonight: Royal Institute Christmas Lectures - The Truth About Food - exploring the journey it takes through our bodies

Wow...the amount of brainwashing there has been over what foods are healthy and what aren't, is staggering. These people have been taught the system - a system devised by the food processing industry (exactly the same as the medical system is taught by the pharmaceutical industry).

Teach someone a load of nonsense - make sure they can remember it and pass a test - then give them a white coat and a title that infers specialist knowledge (Nutritianist...Doctor) and let them sell your product. It's a beautiful system.

Look at these fools touting fibre as a nutrient...A. fibre is not a nutrient - it is not something to be digested and B. humans do not need a single gram of fibre in their diet, ever. They will argue that it 'helps the gut microbiome' - if you're sticking to proper food you don't need so many types of microbiome. Just think of the stress you put your digestive system under when you eat crap with lots of different ingredients; your body has to try and break those elements down, which each take different amounts of time to do. And most of the nutrients claimed to be in the crappy 'food' don't have the right elements within them for the body to subtract the nutrients. A prime example of almost perfect nutritional balance are hens eggs. Body builders have used egg whites for the protein for decades...but without the nutients in the yolks, the protein isn't as effective.

Also, note these people are eating multiple times a day - if you feel the need to do that, you aren't getting enough nutrition from what you're eating. Herbivores need to constantly graze - cattle, sheep, rabbits...virtually all of them. Carnivores don't. I eat 1 or 2 times a day, and only feel hungry if I'm on an extended fast like 3 days or longer. And that hunger lasts a few minutes. It's a signal...better start hunting again. I know people who claim to be starving every few hours. That's probably caused by the sugar addiction, and is a real addiction. Cut out all carbs (and I do mean all...not even any veg) for 30 days then re-introduce them, and you'll realise how powerful a drug sugar is - it's the most addictive I've even had.

Anyway...read 'em and weep at how brainwashed otherwise bright people can be when it's done by authority.

I've lost 4kg over about four weeks, gradually and sustainably through cutting out most cereals, potatoes, sweets, crisps, etc. I miss granola but it had to go. I currently eat meat for dinner every day. I alternate bacon & eggs or two pieces of toast with honey, every other day for lunch. A few days a week, peas, broad beans and sweet potatoes. I have a clementine and a banana a day. Breakfast I have fruit & fibre cereal.

I suspect if I up the amount of meat products for my meals, I could cut out the cereal entirely plus the sweet potatoes.

It's been a task to adjust my diet but the slow transition from overweight to not so overweight is pleasing.

Edit. Forgot - fish once per week!

You're doing it the right way - easing onto it rather than going full cold turkey.

I used to look at animals eating the same thing day in day out and think how bland it must be. But animals eat for nutrition - not for entertainment which for the west at least, we've been doing for the last 50 years or so.

Once over the addiction, it's very freeing - 30 days after just eating meat fish and eggs, my mind flipped and I no longer wanted anything else. That was the first time I could have crap in the house and not only not want it...I didn't even think about it. It became that all I want is the meat fish and eggs. And I have some cheese on an omelette most days. It's simple, it's cheap, it's healthy. If I'm travelling or golfing, or busy, and I miss when I would usually be eating (about 1.30 pm most days for me) I don't start getting hunger pangs or thinking about food. Energy is released more constantly, and because I'm running mostly on ketones, the switch to running on fat reserves is seemless. When I had my boxing match it was about 7pm and I hadn't eaten since the day before - I wasn't hungry, and my energy was constant, whereas I know that I feel lethargic for a couple of hours after eating.

I was looking at Weight Watchers soups earlier. Something you would expect to be healthy, perhaps isn't.

Ingredients, Tomatoes (60%), Water, Modified Cornflour, Sugar, Salt, Dried Skimmed Milk, Rapeseed Oil, Milk Proteins, Sweetener - Acesulfame Potassium, Acesulfame Potassium, Spice Extracts, Herb Extract, Citric Acid

Not sure why you have sugar AND Acesulfame Potassium

Acesulfame Potassium = is a non-nutritive, artificial sweetener that's more than 200 times sweeter than sugar. It's often used in baked goods, drinks, and candies

You live and learn

Anything marketed as "low fat" invariably has vastly increased levels of sugar and/or artificial sweetners to make up for the absence of fat because fat tastes good. It's doubly counter-productive to eat such products if you want to lose weight. For one thing the increased sugar levels raise your blood sugar which gets converted into body fat so you gain weight; and for another, natural whole fats make you feel fuller for longer so they actually suppress appetite.
It's an utter con. No one should buy this crap.

The first alarm bell is a tomato soup that is only 60% tomatoes. If you make your own Gazpacho it's about 90% tomatoes and the rest is other vegetables, oil and vinegar with not water or flour at all.

There quite a lot of sugar and carbs in there from the bread, honey, sweet potatoes, bananas, clementines and cereal.
Sweet potatoes are very nutritious but they contain high levels of sugar and starch. Much better is squash of some sort, butternut or whatever pumpkins are available. I often eat oven-roasted squash as an alternative to roast potatoes. Traditional varieties like the blue/grey Crown Prince of the knobbly green Turk's Turban can be roasted in the skin as it goes crisp. And they're good in stews becuase they don't break down to mush which sweet potato tends to do.
Bananas are high in sugar and starch as well. And clementine and satsumas have been selectively bred to be super-sweet so they're higher in sugar than say grapefruit or oranges.

I avoid high-sugar fruits like bananas, pineapple, mangos, grapes and peaches, preferring apples, pears, kiwis, pommegranate, whole oranges and grapefruit and berries of all kinds (except grapes).
Bananas I'll eat once in a while because they're nice, but not every day.

If you want protein from veg, beans of all kinds are good: butter beans, cannellini, black beans etc. Does help if you like beans of course. Fortunately I do and they're very versatile.

But Elon said that sugar is not a poison or else there would be piles of corpses outside of sweetshops.

One of his more convincing arguments 😂

This is a good example of bullshit baffles brains.

Open the article. They sound pretty conclusive that red meat is 'associated' with dementia.

So absolutely zero proof that there is. As Prof Bart Kay likes to put it "ice cream sales on California beaches are associsted with shark attacks".

For a start, these studies are based on what people said they ate over the past 2 or so years. No scientific methodology applied whatsoever.

Secondly, the studies are of people who ate lots of other things that weren't meat. To be able to claim causation the study group needs to eliminate everything else, for years. You could just as well claim that a balanced diet is associated with the same.

When you consider that for something to be classed as a portion of red meat, it just has to contain 'some' meat. A pepperoni pizza for instance that probably contains 1-2% of actual meat (check out the ingrediets - the boldened are just the ingredients of the pepperoni...what utter shite that must be. Also, wheat is mentioned in 4 different ingredients that make it up.

The studies don't agree with experiment - and if something doesn't, it's wrong. Before so called food started being manufactured, dementia was far less prevelent than it is today - when people ate properly. Meat is getting blamed for what everything else causes. Especially sugar. And BTW, sugar is mentioned twice...in a pizza (sugar and dextrose).

Studies are the root of all that is wrong...food studies; health studies; climate studies...I'm not saying every study on everything is wrong, but I am saying if you want to show shomething to promote your agenda, and you can't use real facts that have been measured, you can produce a study and skew it however you like to claim whatever you want.
