The Midgie Masher Flypast 2007

rough check - Applecross is 450 miles from here. 4 fuel stops, motorway to Glasgow, then A roads, then donkey tracks...........7 hours? What time can you leave..........?

Why not break the journey by spending Friday night at Kincardine, then doing the trip up on Saturday with the rest of us?

Phone number is a few messages up from this.

Up to you guys

65 mph average inc fuel, pee and food stops is pretty good going, doable but not enjoyable. We usually plan on 2 hours to Glasgow but take the b road from Gretna to the outskirts of Glasgow, no point doing 74 when the b road is so nice and almost as fast, an hour in Ducati Glasgow stealing coffee and biccies and lunch, fuel on the A82 before Dumbarton ( 120 ish from Penrith), 2 hours more to Ft Bill then fuel again as you leave, an hour or more to Kyle depending on traffic, fuel before doing the Loch Carron loop and then take donkey track over to Applecross which is probably another hour plus I've got no idea whether you'll get fuel on that loch carron loop so i'd fill before turning right.

Nah, did that side of the country last week when none of you buggers got out of bed. Fancy doing some proper West Coast stuff on the Saturday and I've pieced together something from Applecross that should be quite good. We'll ride back with you on Sunday though.

If you southerners don't mind, I will meet you when you stop in Inversnakey for lunch (assuming your itinery hasn't changed) and then ride on with you to Applecross. This gives me time to sort out guests etc. and set up some kind of strap-on jerry can arrangement in an attempt to extend my range to beyond 80miles!!! :p

It would be good to hear if one of you could call me when you get there as I'm only 15mins ride from there. :)

Excellent, lets just cross everything now that the weather stays dry. :)

I am planning tagging along on the Saturday from Inverness (or West) to Applecross. May take the wee single so don't wait for me!:o If there is a spare space in a wigwam I would be interested in it but if not not a problem.

Jeez, that was brave sharing your number with that yin.

Anyhoo, Davie will be the one that txts you - though, he and I will be running sweepers way way way back from the head of the red snake. So, when you get that msg there may already be some mashers in Inverness.

So, it'll be a case of chop chop fella!

Guys, don't want to be the bearer of bad news but Lochcarron to Applecross over the Bealach will be a good hour. (Your "map" is typical of postcode type routes and my home postcode for instance covers about 30 square miles!)
It is not an "easy" riding route and if you are tired etc at this point it will be a VERY long hour.

I'm more concerned about the lack of fuel over there. I think I'm gonna have to carry drinking 2ltr drinking bottles in a rucksack - that will almost double my range!!!!! :)

My understanding is that there's fuel at Kinlochewe, and the post office at Applecross - though I'd imagine these will only be open on the Saturday.

So, when arriving at Applecross - go straight to the post office and fuel up, then, back to the campsite.

Cheers!

...and they like to empty your wallet in the process. The tanker in Contin (A835) for example, is owned by the same bloke as the one in Ullapool, yet there is just about a 10p difference in the price with only a 30 odd mile distance between them! But hey, we're all Ducati riders therefore we're loaded right!! ;) ;)

FAO Crackers and Spuds

C'mon fella.

What does FWBIWEIUHNhhjooWDWENWFUHH!!!!SADFOIFERFBUVAPANANFCV stand for?? :D

Yep, all under control here......packing my 2007 Italia Road 1:800 000 scale map away in tank bag as I type ;)

I don't think we'll give a @@@@ how much the fuel costs mate ;)

I can think of a few people who'll get well fuelled up  on the Saturday night whatever...not that I'll be doing that, of course. Oh, no.

Seriously, we'll be fine for petrol - just don't bring the Moto-Guzzler but that nice economical Imola, Ed
