No Diavel owner's in yet?

That all makes sense.. I know the diavel handle pretty fucken good for a big bruiser, I've had a few ride outs with em. I've only ever riden Harleys with
forward controls and the lack of ground clearance was just part and parcel I guess..
My Harley actually handled very well. But it had mids, not forwards, which combined with a low seat and a reach to the bars was murder on the back. Ground clearance wasn't the best but it still offered enough to ride to the edge of the tyre.
The problem with most Harleys is they tend to be far too softly sprung because that's how the American market seems to like it. Mine lacked damping, especially rebound. With a longer and adjustable after-market rear shock and a fork cartridge kit it would have been very good.

The Diavel will be in a different league. It's an S with fully adjustable Ohlins front and rear and while it's longer than a Multistrada or a Monster, it's nowhere near as long or as raked as a real cruiser and has the seat height of a normal roadster. The X-Diavel is longer, lower and more raked. I would say it's a proper cruiser. The 1260 is a regular naked roadster just with muscle bike clothes.

Still feckin waiting for the bike to go through the workshop. It was going to be the week before last, then last week maybe, then try for early this week.
Have given them a nudge this morning.
All this nice weather and I've got no bike to ride as I can't put any more miles on the Triumph now we've agreed a trade. Come on guys.

Very frustrating.

Have you paid them yet?

A £500 deposit. I could pull the plug and ask for my money back. But there's not that many of them on the market and although it's top dollar (aren't main dealer bikes always?) it's a very nice one.
I guess they're prioritising new bike sales and booked-in services for workshop time. It would be nice to be kept informed though and have a definite date to work with.

A friend of mine had a similar thing with a new v2 multi he had ordered. It arrived a couple of weeks late then 2 weeks to go through the workshop and while he now has the bike it has to go back in to have a centre stand and heated grips fitted when they arrive as apparently none were available as the bike was going through production.

I wouldn't mind as long as I'm kept informed. But look at the weather we've been having......

Yeah, I wouldn't be happy - if they've given you a time window then are putting it back, they're prioritising other jobs.

I had an issue with the electronic tank cap (fucking stupid idea) on teh Triumph - took it back and they said they'd have to order a new one...could fit me in in about 3 weeks. I said no chance, I've got a Scotchland trip in 2 weeks, so they fit it in the week after.

Tell them you've bought it for a planned trip.

Just a quiet word directly with the owner might do the trick, if they made a promise then they should stick to it, it’s not that much work, failing that negotiate an extra discount and drop it off at Nelly and get it done properly 👍

It's a dealer bike. The original owner has traded it in for a V4 Diavel. If they'd knock off the price for Nelly to do the work, which is a VHC, belts and a rear tyre - and now apparently a new rear brake line as they say the one it's got is incorrecty fitted, which sounds a bit odd - if I took it as it is, I would. But I very much doubt they will. Nelly is very busy himself at the moment as well. It will be going to him for a Termi exhaust fitting and map though. Already spoken to him and he's given me a very good price.
Also, if I do walk, there are only six advertised at the moment and other than the one I've agreed to buy there's only one other that would interest me and that's in Plymouth and I'm near Newcastle..

I'll give them til the end of the week.

Yeah I wouldn’t walk either if the bike is what you want, sometimes it helps to be extra pro active to help speed things up

Hooray! Just had the phone call. It's all done. Going for the MOT today, being delivered tomorrow.

Apparently there was a problem with the rear brake line. Someone had taken the wheel and the brake line assembly off for some reason and hadn't refitted and routed the brake line correctly, or had left some parts out, causing the plastic outer of the line to melt against the exhaust heat shield. They weren't prepared to let it go out like that so they stripped it all down (which took longer than all the other jobs they had to do put together) and had to order some brake line parts from Italy. It's now done. Brake lines fitted correctly and all is as it should be. So fair play to them. I'm happy with that.

Should arrive tomorrow. Hopefully the rain holds off for the weekend.... 👀

Yay, that's good :D

I was due to ride down to Plymouth to swap a Multi 1200 for a S1000RR the day of lockdown - got a text from the BMW dealer to say 'don't come' - I tried to reason with them as they were still open for MOTs saying what's the fucking difference - dropping a bike off and picking up another, but they wouldn't do it. Puffs.

It was about 7 weeks before I could get it and couldn't ride the Multi because the deal was done at that mileage. Pissed me off at the time.
