Have you ever tried (or been persuaded) to have a smart meter installed.
Ours is an old house and we inherited the economy 7 meter too. When they came round to install a smart meter he told me he couldn’t.
Not that I really want one but saw it as a way of getting rid of old meter.
yeah a couple of times. I didn't like the pushy persuasion id of preferred a reasoned argument...
Having an economy 7 meter precludes you from many of the small suppliers and the better single rate tariffs.
Symbio had a single rate tariff for those with a dual meter.
Further there may be a high daily standing charge for a dual meter.

see the tariff sent me on the face of it the standing charges are the same if not less, but its so complicated and smoke and mirrors you never really know what you are being charged......
As far as I can make out it’s a vicious circle.
They come to fit smart meter and say they can’t fit it because I’m on a night / day tariff.
I can’t change to a single tariff because I have a night / day meter.
Fuck em.
With what’s happening now are the small suppliers even worth considering still ?

What to save £000's over the last 5 years?
When I’d worked it out in the past I would maybe have saved tens of pounds, definitely not thousands.
We've energy monitoring software running here and our lowest kW/h rate to date is 0.99kW/h Day and 1.17kW/h at night (automatic security/courtesy lamps).
That is with everything turned off except.
Fridge/Freezers x3 (one to be decommissioned soon)
Boilers/Control/pumps x3 (two active/swap and one hot standby).
Circulating hot water pump 24/7 (I know it needs changing)
CCTV / DVR records... various
TV/Satellite distribution boxes
Alexa (f'ing loads)
Alarms (Fire/CO and Intruder).
Electric Gate controllers x2.
Emergency lighting system
Various automatic lighting controllers.
And.... 13 standby battery tenders.
It's amazing how much is taken just on standby across many devices.
That is with everything turned off except.

No. Don’t have loads of non essential shit on standby.You must go through a lot of candles?
We tend to just live in one wing of the house. Saves heating and other unnecessary electrical devices.

Library... ive been in half a dozen times this year... heated 24/7... music room.... nearly never.... guest rooms... all heated... grrrrrr
Coach house and my office... no heating, just ac.
Move in to one wing and go with a reliable supplier then. Problem solved.
Perhaps an eco build (green bollocks) in the grounds and rent the house out
I was going to say try Octopus Energy but please don’t…..My new tariff with Shell Energy. I'll hunt about as I'm free to switch, but I fear there'll be nothing out there right now.

And this is what I don't understand take HS2 why are my hard paid taxes paying for this shit for it to then be handed over to a group to make a profit on to which I then don't see a return for my tax investment!
