I have just spent two hours in the garage trying to fit cables and am now two hours worse off! The front brake cable which is new has been supplied with a 1/4” adjuster instead of 6mm that now will have to be changed by me driving into town for the correct one on monday. Bit frustrating.
The newclutch cable is roughly in position but also needs a 6 mm adjuster. Also frustrating.
The speedo cable, original and visually good, was in fact seized at the bottom end. I have spent literally days soaking it with penetrating oil and then going at it with pliers to try to get the inner to come free. Nope. So I just started cutting the end back 10mm at a time until I could force the inner out and then went to town to have the square drive smashed into the end. So tonight I fitted it and found the bloody speedo is seized also. It is brand new! Fuck! So I had to demount it, and then spent about an hour making a square drive tool and working away at it with a bit of heat and some wd40 until it came free. I tried to dismantle the speedo but was getting angry. If there had been a Royal Enfield there I would have dashed it against the tank!
