Right, here is the bike assembled but with tank, seat toolbox and headlight shell needing paint.
Frame from Awhitu peninsular, Engine from Kohukohu, hubs from Greymouth, rims, spokes, toolbox from thailand, muffler from Italy, header pipe from US of Trump, tank from England, plus a bunch of smaller parts from all over…

Fabulous, this could well be the second fastest build on here after mine 😮😮😮
 
Just wanted to say that this is an awesome build. I purchased a 64 Mountaineer a couple years ago off BAT. Got it running, needs some jetting and tuning, but coming together. Looks like you've been able to find some of the hard to find parts. If you ever come across the rear rack or rear lighting assembly, please let me know. Good luck with your continued progress. Looks great so far.

Thanks! Yep the rear rack is not something I have seen for sale at all and the rear light assembly I saw one come up and it got snapped up pronto.
 
Thanks! So apart from the clutch side engine cover (3 speed) I am also needing the adaptor that mounts the gearchange cables to the gear lever

Thanks for that. Had a good look but it would be prohibitively expensive by the time I shipped it to nz. So I decided just to polish up the existing one which is perfectly functional and that means I can finally seal it up, fill it with oil and fit the kick start.
Photos show the one I mistakenly bought and the polished up original. My brother tells me with polished up alloy, you need to let it sit for a good 24hrs after polishing and before you touch it as the surface will oxidise and harden and then be more resistant to finger prints etc
Which I did not know…every day is a school day…

So my other mission was getting what I now know is called a crank cotter pin to fix the kick lever on with. I went to a push bike shop to ask for one and they had literally no idea what I was talking about. I went to an engineering shop and he showed me the various pins that are known generically as cotter pins. None of which were even close! So I looked on Google and found that no one in nz has a 9mm cotter for sale so had to buy from Oz at an old school bike shop. What a kerfuffle!

Laava, Interesting picture showing the inspection cover, which would make a great belt buckle, in fact, Tom Rolland in the USA, used to hand make exactly that in either silver or brass (lost wax process with wax mould made from an original item).

Not sure he still does, or if they are still available, but they are quite nice, even if I do say so myself....

Apparently you fill the gearbox oil thru the cover until it spills out. Which makes sense but seems a bit over full to me. The gearbox oil is given as a quantity tho in the owners manual. (Pamphlet)
