BT MotoGP coverage

There is a chap on another forum who has said he is involved in the planning of the BT coverage for next year.... may be true, may not be but I have no reason to doubt him.

Question is:

What do you want from the coverage, articles, presenters, background stuff etc?

What do you like about the coverage now and what makes you go and make a cup of tea?

I'll put ideas to him and see what he comes back with.:thumbs:
 
I take it that we aren't going to see the current Eurosport crew, Jules, Toby Spalders etc? Since I imagine that they have to aim for a more mainstream audience I guess that we should expect young women and a general dumbing down. God I'm turning into a right old Victor Meldrew.
 
Well..............

Practice, qualifying and races for all 3 classes LIVE. So far almost the same as Eurosport.

Presented by Toby, Jules and Spalders, and a pitlane reporter, preferably someone who knows what they are talking about (not because they look good and and have a large chest:eek: ) any suggestions?

do not, repeat do not employ Parrish or Cox :mad:

Personally I don't care about "extra" bits as they all tend to be the same and end up being dumbed down but as this will be a new broadcaster and they will try for a larger market share us experienced fans will have to accept this, I just don't have to watch them.

and this may be far too much for BT but can I just pay for Moto GP, I don't want football or rugby or tiddly winks

in 2013 yes, for the rest of the season.

ok so ive already been caught off guard today (or was it yesterday) but as far as I understand it for 2014 the MotoGP will no longer be available on:-
BBC
Sky
Virgin
Eurosport
etc...

and will be ONLY available for free to those already with BT and so anyone without BT (so us on sky/council telly/virgin) will have to pay one time only fees.

am i correct or wrong?

If you have BT broadband you can subscribe to BT sport for free, details can be found on the BT sport website. As a Sky subscriber you will need to pay extra as you would have done for ESPN etc. I don't think there will be highlight packages available elsewhere.

As you say Robbie it is for the 2014 season.

So no change for now.

Once subscribed you will have access to all the usual web based stuff similar to sky. I don't know if there will be any way to subscribe to just the GP .

So far I've been told about planned "Red button" content or second screen as it is known. Lots of tech based data available potentially.

ok i think ive missed something here...again feeling stupid, but I think a big change for 2014.

If you have sky or bt or virgin you automatically got both
BBC
&
Eurosport as part of the package for 2013 yes,
and even if you didnt have them and only had council telly you still got the BBC coverage on BBC 2 or digital freeview red button??

to get BT sport for 2014 you have to pay extra whatever package you are with...and the point is EXTRA yes? :confused:

sorry what I am asking is now that ONLY BT customers can get it for free???

Employ the Eurosport team, Do Not have any of the BBC team, particularly the "across the stripe" Aussie. Cut the crap out, show all practice sessions & all races live for all classes all of the time, not only when it doesn't clash with tennis, rowing, athletics, swimming & all of the other stuff that nobody is interested in

up until now pretty much everyone got the motoGP coverage as part of their package...so were paying for it anyway? (or not if only on the bbc)
but now it is on top of what is already subscribed to/contractual if not with BT???

Well I absolutely cant receive BT broadband, long story but it took them 12 months to realise thier own cables cant provide me with any form if internet, even dial up (remember that)!

So If I cant get BT broad band and its not on Eurosport or the BBC I think my only other option is to watch it via the MotoGP website but thats about £80 a year and relies on a pretty quick internet connection to stream the feed, which I dont have!

Mr 'Sasperella' was quoted as saying its a 'niche' audience, well Im afraid hes just made it even more so by flogging it to BT. Yeah the BBC coverage was sh#te but it was available to everyone whether your a fan or just browsing.

Who knows what BT will charge for it in the 2015 season but when you see what they have paid out for football rights (£330 million?!!) they will need to recoup some of that money from somewhere.

As a long term fan of bike sport on telly it looks like Ive been forced out of the MotoGP viewing figures without even trying. I wont pay BT anything.

If you have Sky and don't want BT broadband, the present pricing is for BT Sport

£12 / month with a £15 set up fee
 
I'm not going to BT just to get their "Sport" package - hours and hours of fecking football - no thanks! :mad: And I won't be paying for sport from anyone else for the same reason. Does anyone know if we will still get the recorded MotoGP on BBC?

So BT sport through SKY is £12 per month plus a £15 set up fee.
I already pay SKY about £30 a month now.
The MotoGP season is 8 or 9 months long so thats 9 x £12 + £15 = £123 just to watch Moto GP..............no sorry but Im not having it.

There seems to be an awful lot of questions regarding this now but Im getting the impression your either in or out with BT sport. Im not a BT subscriber or broadband user and I have no intention of spending any more money to watch Moto GP so Im afraid in out of it.

Hope the rest of the fans follow suit and ditch your overpriced 'niche' circus.

BIG MISTAKE by the organisers. I won't pay bt even IF Casey Stoner is coming back to kick ass,
I just got rid after 18months of 5 year old discovery channel re runs and the like..
 
I cannot get BT, I refuse on Sky so that is little ol' me out too.
My motorcycle sport is now whatever meet I turn up at, and that is not MotoGP.
 
If you want to watch the races live, the best option is probably to find a foreign service that streams the races - remember the internet is global so you're not just limited to UK providers.

If you are happy to watch them recorded then you need to get friendly with someone who can record them, or install a BitTorrent client and get searching.

I've got BT so will take my year free - buggered if I am paying them after that though!
 
Right you can record it and stick it on youtube later in the day :) Or even on this very forum. You are friends with all of us right?

It would be taken down on Youtube before the link was posted and besides, I don't have any means to record it - my VHS recorder went the way of the dodo some time ago and I only have basic Freeview and no PVR.

I'll be happy to tell you the result though. ;)

It's free every year to bt broadband customers, it's just the HD that you pay for after the first year. If you don't want HD its free.

anyway, was interesting to see yesterdays Daily Record had 5 ads for BT Sport, 2 of them full page and 3 half page.
one of them made specific mention of the exclusive deal for the motogp.

clever use of it to tempt folks to switch providers, but I think it will backfire on the series organisers. I mean, what about loss of revenue for sponsers coz viewing numbers are down? WSBK superpole was organised a few years ago as one bike on track at a time purely to let the sponsers get tv airtime wasnt it? Won't the sponsors of the motoGP teams realise they are losing out (but by how much?) because of this, not just the fans?

Heh, just had a look and because I'm self employed, work from home and am signed up to BT Business Broadband, I'm not eligible for BT Sport AT ALL!

F**k 'em, looks like I'm off to Bittorrent in 2014*!

* = And probably a new broadband supplier
