Chizel's Lockdown 749 Rebuild Thread

Got a bit more done yesterday..
Despite @Exige 's generous offer on the forks I couldn't justify the 450 bucks the would cost once landed so I splashed out $7 on a can of black paint!
I already had some primer.
Decreased and jet washed a few times.
Took to the really bad bits with the striping wheel , that smoothed em out a bit ..
Then it was sanding and scotch bright for an hour or so.
Wiped down with acetone then primed. Then off to the pub for a bit before top coating.
Had to do one fork at a time as I didn't have enough rubber bungs to fill the holes and couldn't be arsed coming up with another solution...
Anyhu, very pleased with the outcome! The black hides all but the worst bits and those I can put roun the back..
Just gotta install em without scratching em and all will be tickity boo...

Looks good Chiz, hope you've replaced them dust covers? A wee bitty perished mucker, no?

Today was to be the big fire em up day..
It wasn't...
The battery I was to get on Friday didn't turn up on Friday..
I took a battery outa one of the cars in an attempt to jump start it but it was either too flat or the leads didn't make a good enough connection..
@Laava came over for a cuppa and was hoping to witness the big event..
I did provide him with a few laughs though.
One was hitting the starter button and wondering why nothing at all was happening before I realized I hadn't connected the start cable up!
Also hadn't earthed the power comander so that mad some weird shit happen!
Hopefully get the new battery tomorrow and have another bash!
Still got a few bits to put back on...
And weird shit happening, like clipons now hit the dash and the fairing no longer lines up with the mounting points on the bracket.. head fuck....

IT'S ALIVE!!!!!
got the new battery today, fitted it and the bike fired up pretty much straight away!!! Took bout 10 seconds.
Turned it over for 5 secs then off had another stab, it back fired slightly then fired up!!
Took a few mins to settle into an idle then ticked away happily at about 1100rpm..
Ran it up till when then fans kicked in at about 105 it the dropped to 96 I think it was..
But...
Then the engine light came on..
She sounds sweet but I turned her off for a few mins then fired het up again. The light now comes on intermittently..
Checked for error codes but none showing ( assuming I'm checking correctly).
???

I've had intermittent engine light (no code) issues on my 999S. Best expert guess was CPS playing up but it only affected mine when I had been in gear with the clutch pulled in, as when stationary at a junction, etc. So not exactly relevant to you, perhaps.

Puzzle.
