We have had a few smashed panes of glass so I bought a glass cutter with the intention of reusing one of the panes I removed from the garage.. it went OK ish....
Never cut glass before although I did work for balham glass and joinery ( as a joinery installer) whilst living in south London so have seen it done hundreds of times...
Not as easy as they made it look!!!
Took me 6 Goes to get the 3 pieces I needed.. still don't know what I was doing wrong...
Took an
age to hack out the old putty, I'd forgot how much of a shit job that was, used to do alot of that as a painter back in the day. Also used to be really good at re- puttying. Not so good now!! Anyhu, jobs a good un, well, good enough as these windows are only temporary. Temporary could be a few years though so it had to be done, can't live with cardboard taped over windows in our bedroom..
Took 3 hours all up and cost 25 dollars for glass cutter and putty. No idea what a Glazier would charge but I'd imagine more than my time and 25 bucks...
