So me and b spent our first night in the "new" "house last night!!!
Got the keys 4 weeks ago but wanted to get a fèw things done first, mostly the fence and garage. Fence is done , garage not quite..
Wanted garage done to get our stuff out of the expensive storage unit and as we need to do loads on the house, we didn't want to put stuff in there.
In the end we thought fuck it, put stuff in house then move it again when garage finished. We were house sitting for a mate so there was no hurry to move but it was getting to be a pain dragging all my tools and trailer back and forth daily ( didn't want to leave tools in a vacant house) so we made the move!!!
Wanted the fence up first for privacy and a bit of security. It's not a bad area, as such, but i

didn't like the front open to the street and everyone seeing what we are up to/ tools laying around ect..
So anyhu some pics?
First BBQ last night! Lamb chops!!!!

Fence took me bout 2 and a half weeks all up but not full days as weather and other jobs got in the way. . It still needs staining on one side ( b's job now!) And the bare Ali on the gate painting..
I opted for a roller gate as I like em! Less hassle to open and take up less space. When we are rich I will automate it..
As I had to put in a concrete strip for the gage to run on, I thought I might as well carry it on as a mowing strip for the whole fence.
.I do like a mowing strip!

The gate is all Ali, I bought 2 pool fence panels , c section for top and bottom and box section for each end. I silicon 'd and riveted c section on and had local engineer weld the box section. Thought I'd save loads of money making it rather than getting one made but in the end , if I factor in time spent there was only maybe 300 dollars in it but any savings is good by me!!
Love the result and it runs really smoothly!
I've had loads of positive comments from neighbors and passers by.
Immediate Neighbour's are chuffed as prior to us buying the place, there was on old bus parked on the front verge for many years and it was a bit of an eyesore.
On the neighbor note, around 10 have come over and welcomed us in the last 3 weeks, one made us a cake! And a 78 year old gut come over and jumped on the shovel for 4 hours helping me with the concrete!
Local pub is pretty good also.

Good on ya chap. Another chapter starts. That fence must have been a lot of work on your own
Cheers noobs..
Yea bit of work in the fence.. its the digging and clearing of shit that i hate, the building i really enjoy. Some jobs do just take a lot more than ya plan for though, like the shuttering up for the mowing strip, that took over a day in the end..
had a mate help with the post hole boring Though so that was handy...

Next mission is the garage.. I have loads of pics of that but for some reason I can't load em in the usual fashion so will try again later.
It's a bit of a mess though that's for sure.
I've have to replace about 30% of the studs and the bottom plate all the way round. That's nearly done and next up will be lift it and put a few courses of bricks under it.
That has been fun on my own, relying on leverage and props to get it up to replace the bottom plates. It's only a small garage but it's surprisingly heavy!
Then will be reclading and fitting doors. I have to do some paid work over the next few weeks as I'm broke and we have a fuck ton of moving yet to do so the garage is gunna take another 3 weeks ish I'd imagine...

Don't aggravate your shoulder, Chiz.

Make sure B does all the heavy digging, etc.
She's keeping you in sandwiches, right?
She's actually getting on my case right now to make tea and toast.... its supposed to be pancakes day but it musta not done my duties last night!! Way too much wine!
Yea, shoulders are a big worry. Just had my application for surgery denied....

Looks better than that shitole you lived in them thar London

Would it not have been easier to take it apart, rebuild the sides and rear it back up again?
Na... looked at that for sure. It's one of those jobs where ya spend ages scratching ya head and going over the many options. In the end I ran with what I thought easiest and most cost efficient. If I'd have dropped the whole thing , I might as well just of started from scratch. I'm only about 12-15 hours in and mostly done on the timber side.
