Laphroaig is one of my favourites even though it, allegedly, tastes like TCP,
Lagavulin is another must try Islay peaty whisky
If you prefer non peaty you won't go wrong with Aberlour or Macallan
Peat or not-peat is the question, don't try anything too cheap as it will be unpleasant, such as; Teachers, Bell's, Grouse......
Being an alcoholic for over 30 years and not giving a shit to admit it i do not touch spirits and have not done so for well over twenty years. It's just Guinness and now i have been drinking cider as i am still in taking things easy in the money department, it's Tesco's Crofters cider at £2.90 for a 2 litre bottle at 5% proof and i quite like it. Anyway back in the day my Whisky of choice was Glenmorangie single malt made at Tain in the north east of Scotland, i've been past the distillery a couple of times and they do tours there also, i would highly recommend giving it a go. Laphroaig i see in the pic is another one of choice back in the day.

Dalwhinnie 10 Year is sometimes around £30 in Tesco and is nice 
I think it was a 2 part problem in 1981. Too much consumed and a poor quality. When I tried again last December I just had 2 glasses and while it was cheap it was good. I`ve stuck to 2 or 3 glasses at a time so nowhere near the tunnel vision levels of 1981.

That`s quite mix. I like to think there was a large Doner Kebab in there too.
Last year in Donegal Dox and sharper or maybe John were drinking some nice whiskey I can't even be within smelling distance but my stomach turns due to poisoning myself 30 years ago.. It's mad how strong my stomach response is even after all these years

My go to fave is bunnahabhain , Islay malt, Smokey? , yes but not overpowering and smooth ( to my taste buds at least ). Worth a dram .
I've just had to open this (a Xmas gift from my younger son, which I had forgotten about until I looked in a sideboard yesterday)
Looking on the web, it seems to sell for between £33-£42.
Not something I would buy for myself, but very smooth and easy to drink - edit - it might well be something I'll request for birthdays/Xmas/Ramadan and month ends

That was nice - I don't know what it was but it was from the most local distillery to Mullaghmore.
Pernod put me off aniseed for life when I was a kid. And got smashed on rum in Venezuela with the American shooting team in my teens which put me off that for a good while. Funnily though I still liked rum and raisin ice cream.
