Not sure what disciplines you would be looking for but there are gas terminals at Bacton which aren't too far a commute from SuffuckI have CCNSG and have thought about other industries but don’t want loads of travel.
My godfather who lives here has suggested I become a civil engineer and work with him doing the office based planning and I could take dog with me![]()
Thanks Barry. I have much to thinkNot sure what disciplines you would be looking for but there are gas terminals at Bacton which aren't too far a commute from SuffuckPerenco have their office in Norwich which is even closer. The dog lying on your feet sounds like a promising offer though

I have had an idea, not sure if it`s good or bad, workable or not.
Presumably we have all read about the woes of the hospitality industry , the increasing duty on booze being the most recent. As of now duty starts @ 8.5% on weak beer and goes up to 22% on strong spirits.
Is there any reason why, for example a pub selling a pint @ say £6.00 could instead say all drinks to be bought with an item of baby food which is both duty and vat free. The total remains £6.00 but is split however the pub likes. Maybe £3.00 for the beer & £3.00 for the baby food, maybe a different split. The punter pays the same but the tax take is reduced thereby helping the industry retain more of the total. Alternatively 50% of the cost of any drink is taken as a service charge so the VAT remains the same just the saving on the alcohol duty.
Presumably sensible publicans would pass some of the savings on in the form of lower prices. Everyone`s a winner apart from HMRC. I don`t think it`s illegal or immoral, it`s practically the honourable thing to do.
I have no problem paying sensible taxes that are sensibly spent but that has not been the case for a long time.
Edit. If you think it`s a good idea please discuss it with your host next time you are out for a drink or a meal. Much as I love the idea of reducing the VAT take I suspect that a service charge split is easier to administer and saves buying in multiple cartons of baby food.
The devil is in the detail as the saying goes.I know HMRC and other countries have a rolling valuation system that they use to pick out if someone is trying to import product at well below the market value.
And they would regard something so obvious as tax evasion (and not avoidance).
I like the idea though, and there must be a more subtle way to do it.
Thanks Barry. I have much to think

One owner, a lady vet, 15,000 miles, full luggage, new chain and sprockets, just servicedlots of extras.
The only thing I don’t like is the red frame, but I’d be crazy to paint it black and put the bodywork off my other one on it, wouldn’t I?
Already ordered a fruity exhaust.

Keeping the old one for spares ?I’ve been up north to Durham and bought another bike to save me fixing a couple of issues on my f800GS. It’s another f800GS, two years newer and absolutely split mint.
Photos in front of various vistas around Derbyshire to follow.
I’m not sure, there are a couple of issues with it that need to be fixed and I owe it that much. There are also a few bits off it that need transferring to the new one. The foot pegs, the flash shocker, bash plate, gear lever, the list goes on.Keeping the old one for spares ?

Seeing as how I wasn't ill - I went back and made more toast with out-of-date Marmite this eveningJust made two slices of toast and found a jar of Marmite in the cupboard "Use Before August 2018"
It tasted ok.
