Sorry Another 916 thread

If the bike is what you think it is I would put it to original paint etc if it was mine.

Aye i agree, even if its not a Strada the bodywork will be getting sorted;)

Could be an SP.
Ties in with Ohlin on rear etc.
Derek will confirm when he checks for twin injectors on it's service! ;):D
I'm pretty sure that it's a Strada with extras. If the cylinders heads don't have "Ducati 4V DOHC" cast on the top it's an SP.

I think not Steve. This what it says about my son's 916 Strada;
The vehicle M*****S, a Dicati (Motorcycle), is on our database. To discover its history please continue.

Bloody hell, just said goodbye to my Supersport....Guys just picked it up ,riding it home to Penrith:eek::eek::eek:

Pretty sad when you watch them going down the street innit:embarassed:

Col, put the registration into this and it should tell you what it is

https://www.mycarcheck.com/

M696TSC just comes up with 'Ducati' if itwas an SP it would have said. Anybody with an SP or SPS want to check?

I guess it'll say whatever is on the Vosa database.

"The vehicle B88***, a Ducati 888 Sp V (Motorcycle), is on our database. To discover its history please continue."

That's what I have on my V5c for my 888, although oddly, the site doesn't list my 916 Strada..

Is the strada licensed or sorn'd? See if its here

mine? yep - licensed, and shows up as such when I check the DVLA site:

Echo the Helibar comments, they make a big difference.
If you're normal sized you won't be able to get behind the screen anyway.

Congratulations for CJK's new bike, in order !!

I'm going for a Daleside blond, followed by a pint, on your behalf.

PS Don't the higherlift bars require longer brake lines etc. ?

I do believe you are correct, so Colin make sure you get the original brake lines

good call tho i'll probably forget in the midst of my dribbling frenzy:D

no original brake lines or bars,sh1t load of other stuff mind you :D

homeski, down to Immingham in a baw hair under 4.5 back in 5 ....weather was horrific coming home but we made it.
The paintwork is a lot better than it looks in this pic,the usual flash effect on red,it will do in the meantime until i source fairings etc or get these ones painted and decalled on first look they appear to be in good condition so a full paint job may be the way to go.

Nice one!! Worth the wait. Looking good and with a nice ohlins on the back.. Look forward to maybe seeing it in the flesh sometime..

Not ridden her yet, tomorrow morning the weather looks a bit calmer:D

A few bits and bobs that aren't to my taste....apart from the naff paint job, don't like the bling fork adjusters, the tacky plastic thing around the rev counter/temp gauge, carbon air box and and air intake covers(I think they are glued on )
I'm thinking that if its to be put back to how Strada should look these things will need to go.
I might have a full fancy exhaust, thinking it might be a spaghetti job Hindsight's(Mike)is investigating(it's not, just a shiny standard one)...he was round today, termi cans (with eprom),sounds most excellent:cool:.(spare chrome cans have the termi stamp in them to:dunno:)
All in all I seem to have won a watch....proof of the pudding will be when it starts to be used obviously but initial signs, for the money, are good.

Ohhh.............. and there's still the dilemma over the bars!

You can get carbon clock surrounds which would look more tasteful than what is on it or remove it and leave with the foam as standard.

For the future the more "original" it is will perhaps have a bearing on it's value but in the meantime it is your bike and your choice as to what you leave on,remove or add.

DON'T do anything with the bars until you have a few miles on the clock and then try without or vice versa. :lol2:

(I would hazard a guess the original cans were made by Termi for the Strada which is why they are badged that way. Ducati possibly wouldn't want to get involved in production with the first bikes if they weren't sure how they would sell. This was a seriously expensive bike in 1994 compared to the competition)

sod that, wet and a gritter went up the back of my house 6 this morning(did promise myself I'd be less of a ponce with this one:o:o:gay:)

Yep - fully agree with you there. They both need to go. The adjusters do have a purpose, but seriously, how often are you likely to actually be adjusting your suspension?

For the clock surround, it might be that it's just a complete replacement for the normal foam surround, rather than a cover. I didn't spend any time studying it, so can't be sure.

I might have a full fancy exhaust, thinking it might be a spaghetti job Hindsight's(Mike)is investigating(it's not, just a shiny standard one)...

I wasn't sure about that at the time, but after comparing them with mine, the link pipes are indeed just standard ones that have been given a bit of a going over with a particularly enthusiastic polishing wheel :lol2:

Yes, the spare cans aren't the standard units, they're alloy Termi's.

If it was me, I'd be trying to peel some of the bling off and flog it. Once finished, you'd recoup some of your money to help offset the cost of a respray (or new panels, if a set could be found cheaply enough).

Most other things add up.. the alternator wiring has been uprated, the clutch master cylinder looks reasonably sound. The engine casings have lost a lot of paint, and would benefit from whipping them off and getting them powdercoated but are clean and undamaged.

All-in-all it's a nice bike for the money, and has clearly been loved although well travelled and there is plenty of potential to keep tidying it up into what'll be a good example.
