aye, but he's a Jock living in Yorkshire - he's always going to be after top dollar - but try the old school tie, sorry, sporran angle......:D

I got the impression that 748's were a bit revvey ( & wouldn't suit me), also
maint. is therefore greater.
Less power, same weight ?
What does the team think ?

748 needs more revs certainly but doesn't mean more maintenance specifically. Torque on the 996 is excellent for all day running, overall fewer gear changes and to a degree better economy. Probably better if you do a lot of two up riding as well. Fortunately the 996 rarely comes in yellow too. :)Condition and history of whatever you look at will probably clinch the deal. Bigger guys would probably benefit from the 996 grunt too. I prefer it for that reason. Girls usually like the 748. Accessories and servicing much the same.

But if the 748 is R then it's a different ballgame altogether. I've seen R's delivering well over 110bhp...enough to see off any 916 and most 996's too. They're a hoot and a well sorted R can push 120bhp.

not dissing the R - they're very good but ride with different characteristics. and need servicing every mile......?

The servicing intervals for the R are exactly the same as for any 748 or 916/996. Granted, they're more fussy and cantakerous insofar as low speed running is concerned.

Where do you get your pricing info. from, Steve ?

PS Know anyone in HG area competent enough to soften my suspension ?
It may be off for my weight & local roads, but 2nd opinion sought.
Ta.

After many frantic emails /pm's this morning...Derek,Hindsight and Hindsights Mate Callum and after talking to the seller we are 99% sure it is a Strada.
Needs paint or maybe just new panels and some other bits and bobs to put it to near original, and those gay bars will be binned, aye,I know I'll regret it but they just look wrong.
19k miles, belts and valves done 1000 miles ago,new mot, lots of history only downside its an import.
Going down Sunday, hopefully with our fave Spanish donkey,if he's aloud that is:finger:.
Need to suss out a hire van now and buy some ratchety straps :p:thumbs::p:thumbs:

Thanks to Stewart (239desmo) to for recent advice

Col, ride it before you take the helibars off it, you may like them and it will give a ride position close to your ex SS, looks like it has a carbon airbox on...nice touch!

Colin,
It'll be a nice bike once you get those horrible graphics off it. You can chuck those bars in my bin if you're throwing them out ;)

Colin,

Tend to agree with Steve and Derek about the bars.

Try the bike with/without first before you bin them.

Any slow speed riding is not comfortable on these bikes and if you are using it in the colder weather it makes the problems worse.

If the bike is what you think it is I would put it to original paint etc if it was mine.

It's not so you can do what you like! :lol2:
