Saved from the scrappy

Ninja Poopy Psycho
Some of you may remember, last year I managed to get my hands on a 1978 Darmah that was in need of a bit of work to return it to a useable condition.

It's coming along at it's own pace and I'm hopeful it'll turn a wheel under it's own power sometime this year.

However, prior to getting my mucky paws on it, I had been looking for an 851 or 888.

Out of the blue, yesterday, I got a phone call from Martin at Ducati Glasgow asking if I was still interested in one of these as he had had someone on the phone who needed his shifting ASAP due to a house move.

Rather than get caught in the middle, Martin passed the contact details to me and let me get on with it.

As it turned out, the bike in question (1992 851 Strada) had been parked up 4 or 5 years ago and left in the garage. Due to working overseas, the bike had fell into some neglect and was looking quite sorry for itself. The owner needed the bike gone today, or it was looking like a trip to the scrappy was on the cards!

A deal was struck and I brought the old girl home tonight.

It'll be put to one side for the time being until I can get the Darmah progressed a bit more, but a few hours with the degreaser and bike cleaner made a helluva difference!

Still a long way to go though!

glad you sorted it Scott, I picked up an email today linked to it and was waiting to see if it had found a home before posting

Nice one Scott,

Doesnt matter what you paid for it, the value of that bike is only going one way...and it's not down.

Take care,

Frank

Nice job sir ..... these people should remember that Ducatis are for Life, not just the first Summer....

Oh, and if someone else finds an 851/888 that they dont want and are about to scrap, can they phone me and not Scott, and I'll gladly give it a good home :lol2:

Congratulations! :)

As said already it will be pampered as well as used and in good hands now!

Remnants of the Chinese may be in the other air tube! ;)

Now all you need for the rest of your collection is a ........................

When does work start on the new double garage?;)

No point with a double garage Mary, with all the bikes he has in the pipeline it will be full to bursting in 6 months. :D

The bike gathering bug has bitten him badly. Witness the sweaty palms, furtive glances at biking gems, fumbling in his pockets making sure he has the readies available if the opportunity arises ( well that's what he said he was doing;)) , that nervous twitch and practising the fast draw of his credit card should he stumble upon a bargain.
The poor man needs help! Is there an antidote for this affliction?
