LOL - They DO look good dont they - with pod filters and a battery tray - I'd say that little lot would be £500+ rrp ?

I have twinned 41mm's on my 900 and they are bloody good - I'm going to try the split singles and short inlets when I get around to it.

Just had a look through your Galleries on here Stewart, very impressing - time to create a new one for all your SS build piccies in one place - pleeeze :)

NB - I've added a piccie of my Alloy guard into my gallery - if anyone wants a laugh.

That was what I was thinking of Sam. Was planning maybe not having a headlight and simply making holes/slots where it should have been.
 
At work we have an LED flood light that has a chip about 20cm square rated at 150w. It puts out and incredible amount of light. I was thinking of something based on this fitted into a race fairing for my 900SS. Light weight and compact so you would have a bit more room for an oil cooler. It would also take away the bloody great reflector on the front of the bike and so make it a bit more difficult for the police to get a bead on you with their laser. A coat of laser absorbent varnish from one of the people specialising in the health and safety side of lasers would top things off. I doubt you would be laser invisible but you might have a bit more time to clock the buggers and scrub off a bit more speed. Over here that might mean the difference between gaol and a hefty fine.

Started a new gallery as ordered (:)) and slowly getting them together.
Realised I have photos on 3 different computers which is slowing progress but I'll get there.

Checked out the alloy guard. :flash: :cool:
 
Took a day off work today to try and get the bike road legal.

Choke cable attached (some idiot disconnected from the wrong end when dismantling....well that would have been me then! :o), adjusted rear shock with my newly acquired C-spanner.
Hooked fuel up to the vacuum pump and fitted tank.
Adjusted bars to clear tank/fairing etc.
Took several large drams and drilled screen and fairing and fitted screen. No cracked screen...result! :D
Phoned MOT station and said when can you test a bike?
He said "Now!" and half an hour later one bit of paper which says it won't fall apart if I try to ride it.......well not the first time anyway.

Bike is not finished but then it never will be. Already scheming for some mods during the winter.

Huge thanks to Brian for all his help, not only today but on and off over the last 5 years.

Yep...5 years.....so we sat on finishing today and just watched it sitting there in the sunshine and felt relieved and happy. Well I am delighted.

Sound off it is like no other Duc I have ever heard, in fact it doesn't really sound like any other bike I have heard.
It has a modern Ducati beat with the sound of likes of a Manx Norton with reverse cone megas.

WIll post up photos shortly but the ones I have are too large and need to be resized and I can't be bothered right now.

Will look forward to the photo's Stewart but seeing it in the metal yesterday, it was just a stunning work of art! Glad it sailed through the MOT and will look forward to hearing it on the run in Saturday! Had a run on the 996 after I got it yesterday - can't keep the smile off my face:D

Now have a tax disc (but no holder! ) so fully road legal with a full sized horrible yellow/black number plate so looking likely!

May have to have a look at the HF route to ensure no hairpins as the lock on the bike makes the 748 look agile.:eek:
 
Forgot to say that when bike was in for the MOT the tester commented on the weight of the bike now.

It seems to be tipping the scales at under 160kg and that is with 10 Litres of fuel on board as well.
Makes me wonder what weight was in the original parts that were binned?

Took a few photos (well dozens :o) over the weekend and a couple which initially looked good will be binned as I can see myself in the alloy!

On the plus side I am getting quicker at the polishing and have bought shares in Autosol!!
