New Ducati Dealership to open in Aberdeen?

well I agree with Stuart and it seems after all the hard work Martin has put into become BEST DEALER IN SCOTLAND for DUK to put a spanner in the works and fcuk it all up! As for servicing all the bikes sold this is where promoting the ability to do this during the winter months with collect and deliver and a 'special winter rate' and keep things ticking over until the selling months return.

Il'l 2nd these comments.

Geographically and travel time-wise Newcastle is probably as close to Glasgow as Aberdeen. Does MS(?) harm Duc Glasgow???

If and it is a big IF, the new franchise is ran correctly and with similar ethics and attention to details as customer relations and creating the "Ducati family" feeling it hopefully will help DG. More Ducs on the road, more servicing, more brand promotion on the roads etc.

From a customers vantage point, it's all good!

What about DG at BSB? Will DUK expect this to become a shared event? Likewise tracknights?

I simply hate the idea of anyone 'jumping on the band waggon'. It has taken dedication and hard work from Martin and all involved with DG to achieve their current standing and it would be most unfair to expect anyone who has not put in the effort to benefit.

BSB and tracknights are Martin's babies. He promotes them and gets the rewards, be it enjoyment or financial.

No-one wants to see DG suffer from another franchise, I firmly believe they will not.

Business is business, the facts and figures clearly indicate another dealer in Scotland can prosper. Ducat as a company want it.

DG can benefit.

We as customers and Ducatisti (I hate that saying, is there anything else we can use?) should gain from it also.

Mary, VERY valid point... I never thought about the BSB connection - that's a massive PR event for the DUCATI BRAND that DG pick up the tab for. Might not be applicable right enough as we don't appear to have a Ducati BSB team at the moment

The DG day out is the best motorsport available, bar none. They have nothing to worry about there.

aye, but I'll not be standing there going woo woo, as yamaha, honda, kawasaki, and other Japanese stuff whirls past with NO DUCATI BSB team... yet again, they shoot, they score, and Ducati score a MASSIVE own goal. British Superbikes without a DUCATI, I would have ridiculed anyone that said that last year    At least they won't have to pre-register 1098R's anymore.... every cloud guys eh

if it means they'll have the budget to spend on events for owners and better dealer support it gets my vote, I really fail to understand why they need a factory BSB team when they dominate WSB and Moto GP, if the 1098 is a good bike UK teams will buy them to run anyway, no need for factory $$$ to be spent on it at all. Get a Ducati island like at Laguna for Donnington, promote events for all owners old or new, a UK Ducati Weekend, more demo days in conjunction with dealers, open days with designers and factory staff at dealers, jeez i can think of a million and one marketing ideas that don't revolve around racing round overgrown airfields......

dominate WSB and Moto GP

Were you watching last years Moto GP on Eurosport... we got our @ss whipped this year.... by the "master" :D . As for WSB... I much prefer BSB. And I totally agree 100% about the events and demo days etc etc, this AGAIN is where Ducati UK are a toothless dog. Jeez, MCN even had to go to a CUSTOMER to borrow a 1098R for a photoshoot FFS

I wonder really what impact the racing teams success actually has on sales... we'll find out soon if indeed there are no Ducati's next year at BSB.

I for one wouldn't go to a BSB race if there were no Ducati racing, I don't take a lot of interest in the support races on TV in WSB as there is no Ducati involvement. I only watch the 125cc in MotoGp to see the Brits win.

Steve, same here, wouldn't give BSB a second glance if no Ducati teams were there. I watch the Moto GP, but have to confess I just DO NOT LIKE Stoner, I watch the Moto GP to see (hope) DUCATI win, that sadly means Stoner as Melandri couldn't catch a cold. However, that's purely as an INVESTMENT. The team wins my D16RR holds it's value :D :D :D

(I say this with an element of jest!).....You have to remember Stuart, that Stoner is only 22 and has a lot of pressure on him this year with winning last year, No1 plate (against his wishes) and all that and he probably hasn't been to charm school like Bayliss, Edwards, Hodgson and Haga have (Foggy wasn't liked that much either!) Toseland isn't quite the happy chappy he was last year either! I suppose if Stoner did a bit more interviews, chat on the grid like some of the others do and seemed happy when he won then things might change!

Steve, There is an element of that... but Stoner and Hamilton for me are both chips off the same block.... well actually it's a....... no we'll not go there, but you know what I mean !!!

Arrogant wee sh1ts half the time.... but hey, if I was earning that, I'd be arrogant too  :D

 I see your point there, now what about that Andy-tennis-player guy? is he outta the same mould (sic) or is he ok cos he's Scottish? :dunno:

why would there be no Ducati's in BSB if there is no factory team? Surely if the 1098R running costs were back down to realistic levels ( the reason they brought in 1200cc bikes) and the bike was the one to have privateer teams would run them? that is how it used to work in the 916/955 days.

Ok ducati have not won the GP Championship but Stoner is up there at every race, he gets TV time, Ducati get TV time, he's a potential winner, Hayden is joining him so 2 potential winners and a great advert in the US where sales are needed ( or so it seems). WSB is the same, Ducati are the team to beat and will be again next year.

I find SBK racing boring anyway so am hardly an advert for it but the only events I've been to in the last 2 or 3 years were ducati Glasgow at Knockhill and that was to share in the DG experience and Croft where I get full pit access during the practice day with Stobart and enjoy the craic with Birdy and the team, I actually prefer watching the timing screens, seeing what they change and trying to understand what is going on rather than the racing, i prefer that on TV. At neither event was having a Ducati present that important although I would like to see Stobart back on ducati's cos the pit would be more fun :)
