On the plus side it keeps the thread alive and out there… I’d be putting wanted ads on gumtree, eBay etc
recently I moved two strange little 50cc Honda bikes they were like monkey bikes and shopping bikes into one, one was very nice hardly used the other bit less nice but still decent anyway the buyer put out a wanted request on gumtree or wherever for 1 such bike as he had had one stolen, he got a response from the Midlands the buyer is based in Durham area … anyway the Midlands turd was a scammer who was trying to get a deposit off him for no existing bike that’s trouble with a wanted advert
anyway funnily a lady saw his advert and she was 40 miles from the buyer the wanted advert made her realise she didn’t need the bikes or wouldn’t ride them so she contacted him and he bought them both and absolutely over the moon he was he got a real bargain
going back to a Desmo somebody will be sat there on the fence as to sell or not and just giving a nudge and the fact the money is ready might just entice them in to a quick sale that they no doubt will regret but makes sense right now

I tried discussing this before using simple thermodynamic laws, however the majority got lost in the "I can't possibly have just paid £300 for pure antifreeze that's not as good as water"..... I've learned not to argue with people in this false position. They appear to have way too much experience in arguing.Perhaps it needs revisiting on the friendlier forum

If you are willing to pay sensible money, you'll get one. Then you hang onto it and look after it, you're not going to make a quick buck here.Thinking you're going to get a zero mile bike for £40k is for the birds. There are no fire sale bikes where people need quick cash and even if they did, they can get more than you are talking by almost anybody. I heard all sorts of predictions of cheap bikes at the start of the COVID pandemic (read the forums of people wringing their hands in glee saying they were going to get some very nice bikes for buttons) and it didn't happen, in fact it has went the opposite way.

So rather than wait to get a slightly larger cut, they are likely to broker a deal if at all possible. But I don't think they will attempt to get £30k off the zero mile bike if that's a customer sale
£50k would be a steal for a serviced zero miler, looking at the market it’s £60k for the one you want

No, I mean if the owner was willing to take £40k for it. They'd buy it and put it up for pretty much what they have it up for now, not pass that bargain onto Joe Public
Most people like shiny shops when buying expensive stuff so the shiny shop would get more money for it
so there's room for a percentage commission.

I'd love a desmosedici, but I'd really not be adverse to buying a high mileage one as it means that I'd not be scared of riding it.
On another note, the ones left standing - sadly many of them have not been decommissioned properly, and so will probably need everything that fluids have come into contact with replaced - which is no biggee if you've got 40 large to drop on one.

Hey Gents, i ended up buying this bike after going to look at it a couple of weeks ago. For me the bike made sense, been used on & off track with approx 5500 miles. I prefer to buy bikes with a good bit of mileage on as i do ride them, Garage queens when weather is crap but road slut when the sun is out!! Jemspeed were selling the bike on behalf of the owners friend so no Vat to pay. The bike also went up to Ducati Leeds for the 7500 mile service where valve clearances were included. Couple of issues with the bike are fork seals which Jem are doing themselves, will take a few days as a special tool is needed to strip the forks. Paintwork is a bit ropey in a couple of spots & the rear seat unit looks more of a dark red than ducati red which is a little odd, but all these issues can be worked on over the winter. Big Brucy bonus is that the GP kit came with the bike & tbh a little unsure if its needed so may end up parting company with those bits & stick the cash back in the bank.
Why would VAT be applicable to a SH motorbike?
