Ducati 851 and 888 Forum

Hmmm... well that migration went well then! What a crock... I assume that the job is not finished as the site doesn't, work unless it is now browser specific (I can't be arsed to try...). I trust whoever is doing this isn't giving up their day job... 🤣

I can see what seems to be the bare bones on chrome but it looks like a lot of the meat is missing.

Doesn’t format properly on a mobile though 🙁. FFS, this is 2023 not 1923

The site doesn't allow me to log on and TBH I can't understand who is running with this. Will try to tag Marvin again.

Folks -

Some of us have been pretty frustrated and worried about the continuity of the ducati851and888 forum. The old site is in a state of disrepair, and with no evidence of things improving, and we've been unable to establish a conversation with Jimmy (who previously ran/maintained the site).

We've now taken matters into our own hands, and have launched a new, refreshed version of the site. I do hope this isn't coming too late, and we can rebuild the previous vibrant community to continue developing the forum and sharing knowledge about these machines.

Please head on over to ducati851and888

For those that were previously subscribed to the old (ducati851and888.net) forum, your user id will not work straight away - please read the instructions on how to re-activate your user id - here: Re-instating an old forum id - ducati851and888

Drop me an email if you have any problems: mike@ducati851and888.com

.. and of course, please do spread the word.

Thanks
Mike

Just a suggestion,

Why not incorporate with this madhouse and become a World Powerhouse of something (can't think of what, so insert your own thought) ?

Surely a site with the lunatics who post on here (me excluded of course) could sustain frequent visits (just check out Wayne for example) as opposed to the number involved with a couple of models (Ducati of course - but Wayne does like other models)

Ah well, it's time for a tablet.

Mike, I know the amount of history and members input in that forum and most will have been sad/angry/confused or puzzled at the difficulties which were avoidable.

It's refreshing to see someone grasping the nettle to ensure it stays open and I wish you and others involved, the very best.

Might I suggest? On those forums that allow other forums to advertise in your signature, members of both put the new forum link there.

If this forum can help in anyway I'm sure @The GOAT and others would be willing to do so.

Best of luck fella's (y)

It's a suggestion that I had considered. Given the way that we're having to do this (by which, I mean that the old site is still online..), I felt that it possibly might not be appropriate to immediately merge into a pre-existing forum (whether it was this one, or any of the others).

It's definitely an option for the future though - my plan at the moment is to re-establish the community around the historic content and knowledge, and form a core group of individuals to collectively figure out the future strategy, whether that's an exit plan for ensuring that the knowledge is integrated into some other site, or something else.

This is definitely the best Forum - forget the rest and let's unite ;)

It seems that the continual turmoil of the site has led to a split. We here know about someone running a forum thinking they are gods and ruinning it, so new blood creates new forums.

Anyway, not wishing to tread on either parties toes on this

Mike I believe ? has set up ducati851and888

and Jimmy I believe has Forums - Ducati 851 and 888 Forum

I'm sure either site will have an explanation of what they feel went on and their hopes for the future of their respective foums
