Ducati 851 and 888 Forum

I'd forgotten it was a U.S. based site until I saw the dates of the posts shown were backwards :D

I just tried to look at it and all I saw was gobbledeegook

Yer BANNED! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Their underlying MySQL database might have been upgraded and maybe is incompatible with their PHP version, or they have done something to PHP.

I am assuming this is down to the admins to resolve, but last time was like I was trying to discover the "Mummy's Tomb" by the way only one of the admins (Marvin Jensen) would reply to me and he wouldn't share any details of fellow admins, or the elusive "Jimmy".

I have tagged Marvin again to give a chap called Patrick a nudge, as he seems to be the technical guy in the admin team.

Interesting that the whole world now has the MySQL credentials for Jimmy though..

I remember at the time it first started going wonky, @The GOAT had offered a home within DC to ensure a more stable base for the 851/888 forum. They could transfer all of their history, posts and threads over to DC whilst still having a forum within a forum so to speak.

I'm sure if there was a wish and a drive to save 851/888, then The Goat would open the door to 851/888 once more,

Would be a grand idea to have it integrated into the community (y)

That would be ideal if it could happen. Got to love a 851 😁

At least they are trying to work on it……. Glacial pace with the web is typical of many of the average age us as 851 and 888 owners and admins of this site. We have offered up many times to get a fresh set of skills to help support it and they can’t seem to see it as an offer to help, but as someone wanting to take their well worn system away that could really do with a major refresh. I see Jimmy’s response through others (as we cannot connect to him directly, unless we go through Marvin) as trying to avoid the inevitable and he is the guy who started the site. Like many of us who hoard some parts, just in case we need it, he had hoarded information from his community that he feels is his and not the shared ownership of the community that helped build all of this history.

I'm sure given most the the 851/888 want stability for the forum, that Jimmy and @The GOAT could chat and find a way for a win win.

I think Jimmy whilst maybe doing a bit of "My precious", I'm sure he wants the best for the forum, the bikes and the members and to do that he's going to have upgrade in his systems and willingness to accept help but on the right way
