Do we need a ‘how’s Birdie’ thread?

I forgot to mention, on a positive note I was recommended a few solicitors by the North Derbyshire Asbestos Association to see if there was a claim to be had so I chose a firm based in London, they went into an awful amount of detail, to cut a long story short they made a claim against my first employer who admitted liability without it going to court, I have had a small interim payment with the final amount yet to be agreed, it will help the wife in the future.

I had a scan around a month ago which showed the tumour had continued to shrink by 5 mm, they are happy if they can stabilise it let alone shrink it, remember this type of tumor doesn't react to chemo with 60% of people. I have developed a tremor in my right hand which they think could be nerve damage in my shoulder due to the chemo of which they are going to investigate further, something I can live with although it makes welding a bit difficult. 😂 Once the steroids kick in I'll be back to pottering about again, to give you an Idea, while on steroids l renovated my greenhouse, mounted a 47in tv on the bedroom wall including all the cabling and wiring, removed the wheels on my car to paint the calipers, within a week off steroids I am struggling to climb my stairs or walk up the drive. Steroids Rule.

Another little update, I have been draining approx 500ml of fluid from my right lung every 2 days, recently this has extended to every 4 days, over the last 3 weeks there has been no significant fluid being drained but over this period I have developed a cough and my breathing wasn't as good, so I rang the nurse on thursday worried that the drain was blocked, she arranged for an Xray the next morning followed by a meeting with her, the outcome appears to be that the lung has recovered and is no more filling with fluid, it is going to be monitored over a few weeks and hopefully the drain removed. Can't fault the NHS with the treatment I have received up to now.

I guess your lung is adapting to not dealing with fluid build-up and that has led to a cough.
Great news that there's upwards progress, Steve. I'm tempted not to face-palm you.

Grand news cocker, I too agree that the NHS can get things right, they put me back together in 2017, found the cancer early put me on the road to recovery so only need a chest scan every 2 years now.
I'm sure it's a great relief for the family too, fraternal hugs brother from another mother (y) ❤️
