Cool 😎 Strange 🤪 or obscure 🙃 / interesting things...

You can see why some people end up shot on their doorsteps or in their car outside their office…mostly they probably deserved it.
A deal's a deal. You spit on your hands and shake and confirm it in writing, you better pay.
If you can't, because of some disaster, communicate. Devise a solution. Silence is the middle finger, which we in the real world know you deploy at your peril. There is a code.

I heard from a joiner I know of a situation where customer ordered a new kitchen, joiner installed it then customer claimed poverty on completion. After the 2nd cupboard door was 'reconfigured' by a sledgehammer the money suddenly appeared 🤣

This Honda V8 800cc Café Racer is a legendary, one-of-a-kind engineering masterpiece completely handcrafted by the brilliant Dutch builder Tjitze Tjoelker.

Requiring approximately 2,500 hours of meticulous fabrication, the bike’s history began with Tjoelker’s radical vision to build a true multi-cylinder monster from scratch rather than simply modifying an existing frame. At its heart sits a unique, custom-engineered 800cc V8 engine, which Tjoelker incredibly constructed by fusing two Honda 400cc inline-four engine blocks into a single, transversely mounted powerplant.

To handle the massive power delivery, the motor produces an estimated 120 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and is paired with a heavy-duty Moto Guzzi transmission.

Visually, the motorcycle celebrates the classic 1960s café racer era with its striking bright red fuel tank sporting the traditional Honda wing logo, custom gold-finished valve covers, a minimalist rear solo hump seat, a matte-black eight-into-two exhaust system, and multi-spoke gold wheels. This machine remains widely celebrated across the global custom bike community as a monumental feat of pure engineering passion.

V8 Fusion Building a custom 800cc V8 engine from standard motorcycle parts required intense machining and structural ingenuity.

Tjitze Tjoelker hand-cut the aluminum lower crankcase shells from two Honda 400cc inline-four engines. He painstakingly aligned them at a precise 90-degree V-angle, building a custom jig to lock them in place before permanently TIG welding the structures together into a shared, heavy-duty crankcase assembly.

The biggest hurdle in fusing two inline-fours into a functional V8 is the crankshaft layout. Tjoelker had to engineer a custom, multi-journal synchronized crankshaft that allowed connecting rods from opposing banks to share rod journals without hitting each other, ensuring the correct firing order and proper primary balance.

To keep the bike somewhat narrow, the V8 engine is mounted transversely. The power is routed out via a custom flywheel assembly to a longitudinal Moto Guzzi transmission and shaft-drive setup, which handles the engine’s 120 horsepower output.

The engine uses a custom chain-driven overhead camshaft layout, carefully timed so that the valve trains of both four-cylinder heads act as a single unit. It relies on a multi-carburetor intake manifold and an eight-into-two exhaust setup to feed and exhaust all eight cylinders evenly.

Absolutely Fantastic 🤔

For who?

Science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke faced a major controversy in 1998 when the British newspaper the Sunday Mirror published allegations that he paid for sex with young boys in Sri Lanka, where he had lived since 1956. [1, 2, 3]

The Allegations and Timing
    • The Sting: Two undercover reporters from the newspaper claimed Clarke made incriminating statements during an interview regarding relationships with teenagers past the age of puberty. [1, 2, 3]
    • The Timing: The story broke just days before Prince Charles was scheduled to confer a knighthood on Clarke in Colombo. [1, 2]
    • The Postponement: Clarke requested a delay in his knighthood ceremony to avoid bringing embarrassment to the royal family. He finally received the honor in a low-key ceremony two years later. [1, 2, 3]

The Investigation and Clearance
    • Vehement Denial: Clarke strongly denied the accusations, calling the claims revolting nonsense and stating his conscience was clear. He claimed the sting was part of a local conspiracy to discredit him or embarrass the British royal family. [1, 2, 3, 4]
    • Police Findings: Sri Lankan police and Interpol launched investigations. Authorities stated that the newspaper failed to promptly provide requested audio recordings, and no victims or formal complaints ever came forward. [1, 2, 3]
    • Official Clearance: Sri Lanka's National Child Protection Authority officially cleared Clarke of the allegations prior to his death in March 2008, stating there was no evidence or case against him. [1, 2]

If it's anything like the norm, they use the skills shortage visa as a smuggling ring into the U.K. then the rascals they've brought in work in crime rings mostly selling drugs

Indeed not. I think you`ll find they are all artisan hair stylists. Every last one of them and certainly no money laundering, people smuggling or any unlawful activity.

There must be a dozen in Lancaster, a city of about 140,000.

Another one opened a couple of years ago - must've cost a bit to outfit it, and they turned it into a sweets and sugary crap shop about 6 months after opening (just sweets, chocolates, cans of pop and 'energy' drinks).

Open til about 8 or 9pm - I've never seen anyone in there except the guy behind the til.

Let's ask Exige. He's got an artisan hair stylist's car, he's bound to know stuff.

Hairstylists want other people to have open-top cars, for obvious reasons.

For themselves, not so much.
