Carbon ceramic brakes...ouch!

A colleague has rocked up today in her nearly new Audi RS3 - very nice car.

She bought it after seeing it in the showroom when her A3 was being serviced...said she fell in love with it...and mentioned something about it having special brakes that they told her can be expensive to change. She didn't ask how expensive.

I told her they're probably £6-8k for a set of discs, which took the shine off a bit.

£10,200 inc vat for front discs and pads on my Aston 😰 which is kinda frightening. They're made by Brembo so could probably source from another supplier at a better price but no doubt still many £££££££.
Can't agree with your comment about effectiveness on the road, I find them excellent straight away with the added bonus that they do not fade when used hard from high speed and no nasty black brake dust to constantly clean off the wheels.

What model of Austin do you drive, Hugh? Must be a fair few years old by now!
 
2017 Vanquish, had it nearly 4 years now.

It was Harvest Gold which was close to khakee colour with a brown vinyl roof and in my defense I needed a replacement car seriously quickly and that was all my trader contact had that I could afford at the time.
Pleased to say that the therapy is coming along nicely thanks.

My brother had a 1.1 Allegro back in the day, in Bisto brown. Why they gave it that name I'll never know, as in music "Allegro" means lively and bright. There was nothing remotely lively or bright about it. They should have called it the Adagio or the Funeral Dirge. It was probably one of the slowest things on four wheels ever made. I imagine your Aston has more power in it's wiper motor than that Austin had under the bonnet. .

With only 15 allegro’s left on the road it’s more exclusive than the much more common Aston 🤣🤣🤣

When Hugh said he has an Austin, I assumed he meant an Allegro (and I secretly hoped it was a Vanden Plas).

They did an 1800 Marina twin carb. The was their idea of hot. Grandad was probaby concerned that if you slammed the door to hard something would fall off. That happened a lot.
