Well a good blast on the bike and a good night's sleep work wonders. One of those rare moments of clarity arrived this morning.

I was pointed in the direction of the DUN as an important element of owning/riding a Ducati, and I think it does perform a valid resource in respect of technical hints etc - but as for much of the rest of what I see on the forum, do I need it, not really; can I happily live without it and the risk of being mis-interpreted , upsetting others and setting off further pointless comments - absolutely.

I love Ducatis and my appetite for any sensible discussion, press articles, technical tips etc is huge - but nothing matters more than just riding the bike and getting the joys of doing so. I prefer ride-outs to wind-ups, and further time spent on here is better directed, for me at least, to looking after - or even just looking at (sad ) - my bike, and most of all - learning to ride it better/quicker.

I rarely (if ever) intervene in threads but I'm not prepared to stand by and watch people get upset by each others actions and for the forum to lose members because of that. The website relies upon people wanting to contribute and comment and even more importantly the events, trackdays, socials and meets rely upon people knowing about them and taking part, if they feel this isn't a pleasant place to come and do that the whole thing will fall apart.

I don't want to start policing threads, no matter what I end up doing someone will be offended because I've intervened.

I've already been asked by two members to have their user accounts deleted, an action I don't want to take because this is meant to be a community where all are welcome and we need members, but everyone needs to consider what they post and its impact on others.

So, what do I do now? I'd prefer to see the thread stay on topic without the digs and would ask that people consider what they've posted and delete if they think its unwarranted. I'd hope that those who've asked for their accounts to be removed reconsider and maybe just delete posts themselves, if that were to happen I'd ask that those who then quoted deleted posts remove their posts as well. If it doesn't I'll have to no option but to start deleting accounts if thats what those members really want. :(
 
...I have tried to lighten this thread up by talking about my strange rituals and habits down at knockhill.

Poor old Ian, all he wanted to do was show us a bit of his brilliant photography - Ian, come back it ain't that bad here!!! :)

Gentlemen, it's Friday, the weather is wonderful, most of us are healthy, we own wonderful bikes (and women!!!:eek: ) - that's all that matters.

Come on lads, take the p*ss out of me again, I'm sure it made a few grumpy faces smile!!
Mind you, I was grumpy that noone has mentioned my new XR1000 helmet that Gizmo recommended I get while he was up with me!!! ;)

poor little ducks though, how scared wre they :eek: although probably not as scared as the blokes on tricked up 999/gixer etc when a little Imola comes steaming up the inside :D

And Edward, if i't anything to you I Luuurve peanut butter on granary and would kill for some just now :o although Skippy is a better choice than sunpat
