Well after the last riders e-mail I thought I had better pull my finger out, bike ready to race by March 1st ???

Anyway, I guess it needs doing - popped down to see Grib and CouchCommando, had a fantastic drive down and really enjoyed the time on the road, Kendal to Mansfield in the van was a fair old trek but nevertheless fun, good cuppa and criac, load the van up with spares and panels ( let me know if you find the nosecone Grib ) and head off back North - Tony £3 for a tyre, get it sorted fella

Having learnt the ins and outs of the flowery missile and when last serviced etc I bobbed in to Ducati Leeds on the way home, well I say bobbed in, what a fecking nightmare trying to get through Bradford on a Saturday afternoon mind you the traffic jam was a pleasure outside Mumtaz, don't know what the foods like but wow, what an amazing curry smell in the surrounding area, it really did make me slaver ! www.mumtaz.co.uk I will go there one day as it looked to be the best curry house I have ever seen !

Great reception from the guys at Ducati Leeds as always and had belts for the little 583 on the shelf, couldn't resist one of the new '07 Ducati hats either, especially designed for JPM, Lily and BDG, bright Orange with Ducati 'signature' logo, ingenius, KTM and Ducati in one hat !

Got back knackered and grouchy, sorry Jeff, up and out this morning and amongst various other task went up to Hlafords and looked at the tool kit I highlighted in another thread, looks good, if my slipper clutch sells I will have one, while in there I bought the NITROMORS, let the fun begin !

Up to my mates house and found the little 583 hidden in the corner, feeling unloved, so whipped off the tank and set about draing it, what a ball ache, no wonder they don't go so fast, have you seen the speed the fuel dribbles out, phhhhtgrrrr.

Right down to it, heres how she was when I picked here up, this was taken at my first trackday on it at Oulton Park.

Great looking bike and very well put together, I want to get back to the Ducati Sillouette though, hence the hunt for a 600ss nosecone, have the rest, just need that and a screen !

Today, I started to attack the tank with the previously mentioned NITROMORS, my goodness this tank has had a very hard life, Ali, Grib ? Bloody hell the amount of filler in that tank must be worth 4 BHP

Its was dark and raining so that was about as far as I got today, I will keep this thread up with the progress of the bike aswell as my site. ( In my Sig )

Have now also got the famous 'Ali' motor to split and nick the gearbox, also my spare motor to be 'refreshed' by a mate of mine, I will make sure I have plenty of pics along the way !

Looks like you had a fair few fags while you were sorting tank mate ;-)
Good luck with it all.

Cheers fella, don't smoke in the house so in bad weather they just get lobbed out side, must sweep 'em up !

Gonna write that tank off, have another one taht just needs a rinse out and internals putting in, transponder arived today, nosecone should be here soon, tyres to be ordered in the next few days, belts to go on and I'm ready to rock at Brands Hatch. Only a little scared - need to start watching some trackday vids on youtube !

Hi Ian, did you not consider having the tank blasted? might have been less hassle!! :)

Nice one, it'll be a right hoot.
Good luck, ride safe and come home in one piece.
Quite envious actually, never raced a solo.

Im sure i've seen them on TV, how did you wangle that one?
Might just come along,to EVERY meeting ;-)

Well the story so far........its now in my mates workshop ready for the final strip and rebuild, he is showing me what to do on the bike while he strips / rebuilds the spare motor, gonna order another set of belts for the spare motor 2moro + plugs and filters for both engines, I will need a clutch aswell so will be spending !

I want to replace the bars with the replaceable clip on variety, what fits ?

Bought a bit of bling today aswell !

Have spent hours so far in my mates bodyshop with the air sander and have so far only got the tank 3/4 done and one side fairing panel, that still leaves the seat unit, bellypan, nose and other side panel to do - its a nightmare !

Anyway here she is......

Have you thought about a Chrome tank, half faired cafe racer style? Probably too much work but the picture of your bike sort of jogged my memory about what you were saying on Sunday about the MH900E

Fook it, just buy a steel frame cbr, cheap as chips ;-)
infact, if im not on a sidecar this year, i might :lol2:
Can't ride a solo on the road so ill be ace on a track! hmm.

when's the first race then?

Provisional Calendar:

14/15th April - Brands Hatch.
20th May - Mallory Park.
8/9/10th June - Assen, Holland.
7th July - Oulton Park.
28/29th July - Castle Combe.
12th August - Donington Park.
1/2nd Sept - Snetterton.
6/7th Oct - Cadwell Park.

I am expecting these dates to be confirmed very soon, if I looked hard enough I would probably be able to find out, from what I hear though the above will be the dates !

Brands Hatch now entered

All White now :) well got rid of the black, so all panels are stripped right back, got a bit of mending to do on some bits that have seen better days but all done other wise, I reckon its taken me about 6 hours to strip the paint off with proper air sander and 120 grade discs, although I did cheat today and used of the angry green discs for the number boards !

Will fit it all up over the weekend, just to make sure everything goes where it should before painting, will take some pics then !

Well after dropping the Multi off I went round to the worshop and Paul and I got some jobs done, well Paul did, any way some progress pics here, bike feels tiny and I don't feel comfy with the reach to the gearchange, although this may improve when we get the seat pad on.

Hanging the fairings was just to make sure everything fitted as it should and to get the Dzus rivetted in where needed, we are going to finish the service tomorrow night and get the final fit of the bodywork before it goes off to paint.

Feeling quite happy about the build at the moment and we are making good progress !

Could always gain a bit of aerodynamics by taking the tank breather section off the top so you can get your head further down (check out the tanks on the GP bikes and they have a depression on top of the tank where they get their head down).
Nice one.

A productive night with the bike, bodywork now fits very well as we had a complete rehash and I was given my first go 'on the tools' a drill, Dzus fastners and pop rivet gun - how much fun are they :)

Will have to do a bit of 'cutting out' around the front brake area, only because of the ISR brake lever though, so I get to have another go with some tools - I feel trusted !

Belts done tonight, filter and new clutch aswell, Paul is going to put some new plugs in tomorrow and we will fire it up.

While Paul was doing the belts and stuff I was cleaning and making a mess of spraying the belt covers, another job I am now banned from :(

All in all we had a good, productive night and another one tomorrow with any luck, after we have had it fired up and I have added a bit of filler in the tank here and there all the panels will go off for paint, then stickers - all going to plan so far !
