DD#96, let the build commence.

Well it was all going to plan had a few issues tonight, gladly all resolved but we have not got to the bottom of it.

Fueled the bike up, checked the belts, filled the oil up, changed the plugs - would the little lady play - would she feck !

Checked all fueling, pump working, fuel exiting tank, fuel present at the carb drain, oh no she wouldn't fire, in fact while she was turning over I could hear a faint 'Mummy, mummy Grib, a bad man is playing with my pipes'

Airbox lid off and Paul did something with the jets, well took 'em out and put them back in again - and out came a squirty bottle, filled it up with petrol and Paul squirted it down one of the carbs while turning it over - VROOOOOOOOOOOOM, stopped squirting, stopped vroooooooming.

Anyway he fiddled a bit longer and she now works and ticks over like a good 'un !

Job done, tank going off for paint now

Well everything is in primer now and has had a splatter coat in black - don't know what it is really called but that will do - all flatted back now and truly ready for proper paint, things getting a bit close now !

2 weeks to go Ian before it'll be loaded up and on the way to Brands.

I assume you're doing the trackday on the Friday (13th...) also?

Yep TD on the Friday - travelling down after work on Thursday night, I have come across a new problem though - one I have not experienced since my first ever trackday.

Everytime I think about racing, especially the first corner I start to feel really sick, in fact to the point of actually wretching on three occasions so far - not good.

Sure you'll be fine, if like me you'll be at the rear end of the grid :D

At least Paddock hill bend isn't that scarey as it is isn't that tight just off camber on entry and blind then a sheer drop with a huge compression at the bottom

Ian

I know it's easy to say, but stop psyching yourself out about it. Just think that it's only a race, nothing too bad so just plan to enjoy it.

Not sur eif you have been to brands, but it look sworse than it really is.

I know its stupid but as I say the only time I have ever felt like this was before my first ever TD at Cadwell. In the breifing I was physically shaking, Kwikbitch was laughing at just how terrified I was !

Mentally I know I will be just fine - its just everytime I think about lining up on the grid I start feeling very ill and sick - I will be top class entertainment in the paddock pre race 1, 'whats that noise, its OK, its Ian throwing up for the 4th time

I just hope that the TD on the Friday will help me exorcise the demons that are subconsiously screwing it up for me just now !

you will be fine :)

find someone to tag along behind ont he first few sessions on the friday and you won't even think about it by lunchtime :)

Have you had any chance to do any practice starts?

I found the clutch really light on the race bike compared to mine so will no doubt be sat on the grid for ages waiting to find the bite point :D

No practice starts yet, bike only just got the wheels back in, I think - not sure, we are waiting to have the paint finished than some slight exhaust fitting so we get a better clearence on the bellypan then off for stickers - I reckon I will be picking it up on the Wednesday before leaving for Brands Thursday night !

Well, a busy night was had, I picked up the bodywork late this afternoon.......

My screen arrived a few days ago and the fit is very good, as for the height - brilliant, I will be able to get really tucked in behind it, it was a special order from Powerbronze.

I still have to have the numberboards put on, also sponsor stickers but here she is in her full glory, as Pure as the driven snow ! Sadly I have to have Yellow number boards which will spoil it but never mind !

I am really impressed with the work Paul has done to get the fairings to fit well - I suppose I could compare it to a nicely iced cake - you know what I mean and it involves gravel traps !
