She's all wrapped up now, ready for the fight with the loom. I'm going to do a bit of research first though...see if I can get rid of some of that crap, simplify it a bit. If anyone has had any experience of minimising the loom I'd love to hear it
Niall,
I don't think that there is much of the loom you can loose. It needs it all to be functional. The secret is in hiding it behind the frame tubes but the difficulty is in securing it without having cable ties showing all over the place. I suppose you could use red cable ties?

I got to agree with Derek here, I used frame coloured cable ties, you could use red ones and they will blend in nicely.
I wish you weren't 125 miles away from me, otherwise I would pop round for a butchers!!

There's noooooo way any cable ties are going anywhere near my frame! How could you even suggest such a thingNo, re-routing off the frame is dead easy, it was the first thing I did with the 750.
I wasn't thinking so much cutting out, more shortening or lengthening to re-route under the tank. For example I'm only going to be running a simple speedo, so no need for the warning light wires, indicator wires etc to be up at the front...that kinda thing.
Scott...Brooklands thought about 3 weeks for the tank and cowl.
is that the original lower yoke then?
Yep...CycleCat do a 'sbk shim kit' to take the 53mm forks.
why is there a pot of vaseline and a pair of discarded rubber gloves in the background?![]()
Niall,
If that was my bike I'd be much happier with the front wheel spindle through the fork bottoms to keep them from twisting on the front stand. You don't want it ending up as a pile of bits on the floor do you?
I fully agree with you. I hate it being on that thing full stop! The number of times I tripped over the handle of the stand today![]()
I don't have the internal nut that the spindle screws into though...it's currently on order. It won't go all the way through, but do you still think I should put it in anyway?
Well you know I said I didn't have much time this week...
Up until recently I thought of myself as being pretty normal, kind of proud that I wasn't into tools, machinery etc...but...see now that I've discovered the pure bliss that is slowly screwing a brand new titanium bolt into an untainted, virgin piece of billet aluminium :faint:![]()
I took one look at your arrangement and thought the same as Derek. Do you not have a length of metal that would go all the way through? Alternatively I have a mate building a Monster special and he has tie straps around the yoke and he has secured the other end to a beam in the roof which takes all the weight. Have you anything on your ceiling you could tie on to? You don't have an engine hoist that you could use?

sounds like your letting it turn into a perversion there young man![]()
umm the T connector on my break lines goes the other way round on my bike ~:?
