And Creamy started the refurbishment of his yet unfinished shedWhen this project was started, same sex marriage was made legal the same year
Wow, never ending indeed, do a build threadActually, I have planning permission now for bricks.
I think it would out live us both.Wow, never ending indeed, do a build thread![]()
He could always put tassels (@Alan Williams there’s your opening) on it, that’d be in keeping with the times. As the bike the project is based on never had a chain guard, the chain guard can be whatever you want but carbon is a no no.
I'd see it as you either spray the carbon one black. create or find one in stainless steel or, to go really retro in the look, find a hugger in white which of course has chain guard built in, looks 70's and has a match with parts of the paint job?
Is your neighbours gas pipe still on your property? It’s good to see you backActually, I have planning permission now for bricks.

I was a rather Svelt 92.5 Kilo's this morning, not too shabby for 6' 1" unlike all the fatties on hereIf you've bought the remote pre load adjuster to accommodate your anticipated weight gain then loss then gain then loss the carbon guard will fit right in, alternated with the steel one.

Hello fattyDid you just weigh your head? How much was the rest of your body porky![]()
Well saidWowza, awesome project! Hell, you inspired me to get off the pervy sidelines and “contribute”, lol.
The chain guard isn’t that hard is it? It’s a 1981(-ish) race bike: there was no carbon fibre, no race team would paint something so minor…so it’s alloy or nothing.
That race team wouldn’t give a shit about polishing anything so it’s a satin/brushed finish.
So do whatever you need to do out of alloy, make it brushed/satin and punch a heap of holes as they would have done back in the day
A privateer team would just punch the holes and be done with it, but a Factory team would go to the trouble of dimpling the holes and it would look right proper:

Just fine & dandy old bean
Originally I was going to make an exact replica and this modern recreation - gave up making two but collected a few period parts so you never knowWowza, awesome project! Hell, you inspired me to get off the pervy sidelines and “contribute”, lol.

Wait until the posh rear stand hangers go onBobbins look a bit 21st century
too much drift from 1980s tribute
Exactly, well done that man, it's looking goodWait until the posh rear stand hangers go onthey are even more modern, the bobbins are really just for the build but I might leave them so the posh hangers don't get scratched. To be fare you could say that about the forks, brakes, wheels, shock and many other things on the bike - the idea is that it is a modern recreation yet maintaining the overall shape and dimensions of the original.
