Oddly these valve covers on my 907IE aren't anodised, they are painted, in a strange mustard colour that looks like gold. Ducati used this colour on the valve covers of the first engines that used the removable clip with sliding rockets to facilitate shim changes.
 
If I remember right gold Hammerite will give you a similar finish to the gold rocker covers if you spray it.
No, they are a much yellower colour than the Hammerite. I re-painted the horiz exhaust one and got a near match by spraying it with a yellow basecoat first then a thin coat of gold Hammerite over it.

The back of the fairings were vibrating and it was difficult to get even gaps to the frame;

Stainless is a bit heavy, would ally or nylon not be better.

They would have been lighter but I wasn't happy with M6 nylon supporting the front subframe and alloy would be more bits to anodise. And it's a bit strippy for running the thread through that subframe (that doesnae really line up). And I like stainless.
 
Wee stuff that takes ages

Mindful of the FCR's reputation for incontinence and having painted the frame long before thinking of welding brackets to it (wait til I take pics of the rear brake reservoir :rolleyes:) I had to figure out how / where to fit a fuel tap. A fuel tap that you can use without removing the seat unit; unlike the the OEM part.

First attempt was rubbish;

Was reading this thread with interest again, just got some Keihins myself, did you just go with a gravity feed in the end? Along with fuel tap obviously. I couldn't see the relevant postings following the discussion about the problem with the over pressure.

My FCR's only ever did overflow once and that was when I very first installed them.

Some have tried the Monster fuel pumps which I think use inlet manifold suction but I cant remember at the moment.

I was persuaded away from gravity feed but still think its viable on the FCR's

To give you an idea of the lightning pace of the build, I just painted that fuel tap bracket yesterday. Build is pretty much done, just waiting on tank and bodywork to get finished at the painter. I'm using an open 'T' inside the tank, basically just moving the external Y piece in to the tank and blocking the tank return line.
