Guess what......

After spending God knows how much on the Italian brand, year after year, bike after bike.......even being stupid enough to lay out £21k on a XEROX to gain entry to the list.....

my long awaited Desmosedici RR is still a roll of carbon fibre and string in a warehouse in Bologna!

So the first one arrived today. How the F@@@ did that happen? Like JK Rowlings "boy who lived" up turns "the bike they never built". I had it consigned to the archive as a lost cause!

So. I'm left with a rather sour taste in my mouth that even after supporting the shop, the brand, the events (except 2007 track days;) ) and even being crazy to loan out the XEROX for a hoon up and down an airfield after a Tornado......all in the name of brand loyalty......that all I have for the 2008 season is some hastily signed pictures of Troy and Co and a beermat!

Almost!

Apparently if you said you wanted one when MCN broke the story back in 2002/2003 then that constituted an order!!??

So, for the avoidance of doubt, if they ever build a spaceship like the one in Space 1999 then I'v got first dibs. If that is how it works!

Load of old balls really. Guess its not what you know, but who!:)

So I assume you've ordered one also? I guess you've had all the PR stuff through like all of the other lucky people, posters, invites to WDW, DVD's to name a few things?

If not then call your dealer or DUK.

If you haven't ordered one it comes across as sour grapes fella

...I feel the same. When I went down to DG back in Dec. '06 all I got was a poster and a snog from Kerrie!

...actually sod the poster, I'd rather have the latter. :o ;) :p

Fergie, I can understand your frustration. We can assume an order was placed, suppose it all depends on where and how the queue is organised.

I have had all the stuff, but I'd rather have my bike!

i filled in the reservation form like the rest of the prospective owners, and apart from the bits and pieces from the factory thats it.

What I would like to know is where my bike is? All I get told is sometime this year! This YEAR! Good God, I know I'm up for stick here because of who i work with, but i cannot imagine ever getting a customer to wait for an indefinate period for something so special.

I am pretty sure I got a letter from the factory stating all orders would be fulfilled no later than last December. I'll need to check to be sure so if I am wrong I'll apologise.

Lets face it, its a £40,000 bike. Say that slowly......a £40,000 bike. They should be falling over themselves to make sure the delivery is on time!

Sour grapes it is not. Frustration it is definately.

joking aside, I sympathise with you.

Am I right in saying that the first bikes built went to the US? Think of it this way, the weather is crap, the time of year isn't conducive to riding such a special bike, I also can't imagine that anyone is getting any preferential treatment in the UK, there are, I'm sure, plenty of frustrated people out there waiting for their bikes.

...my words won't help I know, but it will be worth the wait. :)

besides, even though everyone has congratulated Scott (except me) they all are secretly hating him now and can't wait to open up the fuel cap at the weekend and spit into the tank!!!! ;)

Does it really matter Fergie? If it was me waiting on one, I wouldnt be in any rush to have it till March now when the salt and pish is off the roads.

No point getting it all corroded for a few extra kudo points on your mates?

Its a fair point Davie.

The thing thats bugging me is there is no firm delivery time for it. If they said March then thats fair and I would accept it, but so far nothing like that. Or asking what colour scheme is required.

And, the most obvious point is that unlike others i don't have £37500 sitting in my current account gathering dust!

(well actually I'd only need £30500 cos I intend to PX the XEROX for it!!):D

Ian,

Are you're calling into question the legitimacy of my order and the way it was placed?

Also, are you suggesting that I received my Desmosedici before you because of who I might know?

I am surprised at your post Fergie.

This bike I understand is the first/one and only rr to arive in the UK .
I'm sure that Scott must have placed his order prior to you and so has received his first.
If you know for sure that your order was placed earlier then you should take it up with Martin at DG and also DUK.

I understand you are fed up waiting for the best and most complicated road bike since honda produced its NR 750. We all know how Ducati work they are after all Italian. I'm sure the bikes will begin to flow in the next couple of months and as Davie says the weather is Pi#h at the mo. I picked up a 996 r back at the end of November and it's not been out from under it's cover yet!

I would speak to DUK if you are that upset.

I wish I was waiting for one but my wife wanted a swimming pool! so selfish git that she is:D

So all at Ducati (Factory, importer, shop)..........top marks for the outstanding informative way that you sell the most expensive production bike in living memory.

Well I guess the rest of the Ducati dealers are fairly brand loyal and they ain't got their's yet - if you have a lack of information contact DUK or DG and find out what number bike you have been allocated, have you asked DUK ?

You are coming across as a jealous kid, although I am sure some of it is tongue in cheek !

Most is tongue in cheek with a subtle message to DUK et al.

Lets face it, I'm hardly gonna be able to ride it in this weather.

Come to think of it, I'm hardly gonna be able to ride it at all! Weather or not!!

:D

Come to the bash my friend!

If the contractor and the surveyor sort things it may happen before the season starts. If not you can help dig the hole in november:D :D

new bike

Fergie, I honestly wouldnt be that bothered.
I waited for the day when i could pick up my brand new 749S on the 1st of March 04.
I got a lift off some mates to M&S in Newcastle and the closer we got to West gate road the deeper the snow got !
Anyway I decided not to take it home that day (the risk of binning it driving out of Newcastle played on my mind to much.)
It was delivered a week later and then sat in my garage for another 8 weeks while the rain and snow came down (all the time my warranty was ticking away!)
Yes I was dead chuffed when it arrived but pi**ed off with having it sitting in the garage all that time.
Take heart in the fact that when your bike arrives (hopefully when spring is kicking in) it will still have all the warranty to run and it will still turn heads.
Not that Im green with envy.
Have patience and Enjoy it when it comes.

you're both just being diplomatic in public here - I reckon you've PM'd eachother and it's ignition keys at dawn for you too!!! ;)

can we watch!
