900GTS build...

I do like that FS1E colour . I also like that exhaust :)
I do have that very exhaust - I have made some minor mods to it as it was ridiculously noisy and it now sounds just peachy.

I also have a chrome version of it with London Chroming which is the one I was intending to use on the GTS - however I didn't have the photoshop skills to turn the matt black exhaust into chrome.

It does look pretty fruity in a rich candy gold. This is the colour...

I hope you will let me have some choice build pictures for the visitors bikes section on Madeinitalymotorcycles ? Everyone will remember Dark side of the moon. Many commented and still comment on it....:lol2: You need to let them know its been reborn :-)

With this paint scheme, it will have gone from Dark Side Of The Moon to the Bright Side Of The Sun :flame2:.

I'd love to post pictures on MadeInItaly however the bike is 'here and there' at the moment; I am looking to get the paintwork sorted in January/February. I have two tanks and two sets of side panels so being indecisive, I might do two schemes  :).

something like this perhaps :)

by the way how are you doing with the weather down there ?? I see there is flooding in east sussex and petersfield

We are ok but next village , Brokham is fully flooded and the aircraft are floating at Redhill Aerodrome. Dont know about Paul ? he is near the river where he is but his house is very high up.

Yea thats half a mile from me . worst thing today is the traffic because so many roads are flooded or blocked by trees and everyone is trying to go shopping..:-)

How did you guess|? That's a lovely green (not!)

In a fit of mad bravado (read: stupidity) I took the bike out on Christmas eve to get some last minute bits from Tesco's. The road from Fittleworth->Pulborough was flooded all the way from the garden centre at Stopham to just before the layby; From where I started I couldn't see where the flooding ended and I reasoned the bike should do it. I should have guessed it was 'a bit tricky' when I heard the Conti's go under.

Anyway, with care and going very slowly I made it to Tesco's with submerged jeans.

On the way back I had a distinct feeling of foreboding. All went well until a police Landrover came towards me and did not slow down *at all* when it went past me. The wake would have been above the front carb - thank goodness I have some rudimentary filters in place.

Within about 10 yards the bike suffered complete electrical failure (thanks guys) and I had to push it uphill for about a mile, then coast home. I was absolutely shattered when I got home.

On a scary note, pushing a black bike wearing a black jacket on a black night (think 18:30) was not the brightest thing to do; I hadn't realised how little drivers can see or even if they bothered to look. Fortunately I was looking when a car just plain didn't see me and I only escaped being hit by dropping the bike on it's left hand side. As they say, it all happened in slo-mo and I couldn't believe it was happening. After that, I turned and faced every car that came from behind and waved at it, which made a considerable difference to how long it took to get home.

I checked this morning and it isn't the fuses so I think my lovely new Shorai battery is done.

ooow feck !!! hope nothing too serious... have some friends that live in Storrington, will have to give them a ring and see how they got on..

I would have thought that a man with such map reading skills would have yomped to Tesco as the crow flies, probably bog snorkling the floods en route.
Seriously, I hope no harm done to the SS.

I think you may have us confused with someone else ?? We are southerners !! We do not............ "bog snorkel"? at the very worst we slip on a pair of green wellies or simply send a man. :)

Ha! It turns out after my much dreaded investigation that it was my fault and had nothing to do with the police Land Rover (FX: Blush).

I had not correctly inserted the main spade terminal into the fuse box supplying the loom/ignition; Using the lights overheated the spade and the connection went high resistance. I pushed the spade on and it nearly started 1st kick and burst into life on the 3rd.

Just how many numpty moments do I have to have? No, please don't answer that.

Netherlands Visit last week...

She's home!

Thanks to Jan Willem and his Mum Jo who had me over to stay for a few days in Dordrecht, I have recovered my fully rebuilt motor from Jan Biggelaar.

I had more than a few beers including a Dutch brew at 9% by volume (FX: Yum!), loads of Dutch delicacies and some frustrating times with trying to get some work done using Windows 8, which seems to be considerably less reliable than a 1970's bevel drive Ducati in a thunderstorm. No news there then.

I can't fit it into the frame just yet as I haven't had the supports made up for the Metmachex swinging arm. Time for a visit to Russell....

I know I have posted pickies of the engine before, but they were by Biggelaar in the Netherlands and it is sooo hard to resist. For the Eagle eyed, the clutch cover is a polished pattern part and spot the blasted & stoved filter cover. Anyway, here she is on my rather untidy bench:-

I had the chance for a chat with Jan & he has taken a stab at re-jetting the carbs to match the 88mm High compression pistons; Bearing in mind his experience I am hoping he isn't too far out. He has slightly altered the jets feeding the heads to increase the oil flow to the heads as it's a springer engine there's a bit more work going on up top.

Yes, that does mean a bit less less is going to the bottom end but it does have a 40% greater capacity oil pump, the con rods from Godden's 1,000cc speedway engine, full flow oil filtering and Lacey's original spec silver coated big end bearings to help it cope with its extra 39cc capacity and high compression 905cc wholesomeness.

Let's not forget the lightweight straight cut clutch basket, 3Kg lighter...

Which is part of my plan to really spank the SS :-).
