Exactly. It's FIFA that's the problem. Trump's an American. He doesn't know anything about football - by his own admission. He's used to getting what he wants and believes he can make anything happen by command. Of course he was going to challenge any decision he didn't like. That's what he does.In the history of the World Cup, 189 red cards have been handed out. Only 2 have ever been rescinded: 1962: Garrincha (Brazil) and 2026: Folarin Balogun (USA). Totally unprecedented and Infantino should be sacked for bringing the game into disrepute
I give less than two shits about soccer but I do like puzzles.Exactly. It's FIFA that's the problem. Trump's an American. He doesn't know anything about football - by his own admission. Infantino should have said "sorry Mr President, the rules of the game are clear and it doesn't work like that" and put the phone down Why didn't he?
Even if Trump offered him some sort of bribe - again what he does: he's transactional; he does deals - why did Infantino apparently decide it would be a good idea to take it?
I don't watch sport. I never have and I never will. For the record I don't give a shit. Football isn't a sport, it's a corporate business. Trump is a businessman. FIFA is clearly just a board of business fixers as well. So my point is, why is it only Trump's intervention that offends? If anything, in his ignorance he's done everyone a favour by showing what football is really all about.I give less than two shits about soccer but I do like puzzles.
Infantino is likely to be a narcissitist. How else would he have gotten where he is? If Trump rang him up and told him, "Americans will stop watching the games if their leading goalscorer is excluded", Infantino would feel he had no choice in the matter.
The problem as ever is not the people in charge. The people in charge are assholes - of course they are going to act in this fashion.
As always, the problem is people themselves. People are assholes.
You don't like how a business is conducted? Don't participate in it. Sport is corrupt and filled with cheaters and run by cheaters? Don't watch it.
Same goes for any business.
Adjust your life, make changes and adapt to realities. Turn your back on things that disgust you. Get rid. But whatever you do, stop fucking complaining about stuff if you've no intention of doing the slightest thing about it.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
At this stage, I wonder if Trump is acting out of ignorance or whether he might have followed a deliberate course of action in order to thoroughly embarrass FIFA.I don't watch sport. Very possible. At this stage, I wonder if Trump is acting out of ignorance or whether he might have followed a deliberate course of action in order to thoroughly embarrass FIFA.
He has form for this sort of thing. Who knows?
His father was a toolmaker you know....."Sir Keir Starmer mounted a diplomatic effort to prevent football's world governing body from shifting the England versus Mexico World Cup fixture six hours earlier than scheduled"
Keir Starmer made personal intervention over England vs Mexico clash at World Cup
Don't worry about it .. its a shit sport played by homosexual men and supporters too thick to figure out a simple protest against fifaSo far there have been 13 red cards (13 straight reds) in this red cup. Can you imagine if any of those teams now claim they lost because red carded players were not available? It has created a right shit shower
