Win! Win! Win! Ducati Clutch Fluid Challenge!

I've just had the bike serviced. The fluids were changed, so I have lovely, clear, pale amber coloured clutch fluid.

I have a standard master & slave cylinder set up with an open clutch cover. The bike is a 998BP & has covered 9.5K.

How many miles do you reckon it will take for the fluid in my reservoir to turn from the aforementioned honeyed shade to an oppressive opaque black?

Whoever guesses closest will win an utterly pathetic prize! So don't delay! Post your entry below!

I'll possibly try to maybe decide on the approximate mileage and then choose a winner when I get back from WDW after 20th June.

Note: I am also running this competition on www.ducatisti.co.uk , www.ducati.ms and www.ducatiworld.co.uk , so, in the event of a draw, your prize may be even more disappointing than you could ever envisage!

Probably not very long as you obviously suspect! I've had my 748 a couple of years and already had to change master cylinder and slave seal and now seal has gone again so it's a new (aftermarket) slave now. Also pushrod is chewed where it bears on the needle bearing inside shaft so it's all change there too!! Bring back Bowden cables!!! Never had a bit of trouble with the clutch on my 76 year old Norton!

such an exciting challenge and the bonus of a really pathetic prize, wow. how do i enter this again:confused:

Gord, the prize is truly cr4p. So crap it probably wasn't even worth clicking the thread to be honest.

It seemed a good idea last night, but there again I was hammered last night. Now I have to keep track of all the entries, and remember to check how dark my fluid is going & then remember to remember the mileage of when it goes completely dark. Regretting the whole thing now, especially that last can of Stella.

the demon drink.....its fecking brilliant isnt it :D

Well, as no one here could be arsed to offer a proper guess, no one on Up North wins a prize. For those who are even a little bit bothered, the correct answer was 1268 miles.

Anyway, nice to see Scott, Mary& Walter & Jon at WDW. Hope Mary & the 848 are OK after their encounter with a scooter...

See you at the Masher!
