In 2013, I decided I needed to slow down from sports bikes, also the angle created by having quite high footrests was making my knee quite uncomfortable after not many miles.
The appeal of getting to the end of the road and then carrying on a little bit further was overwhelming, so I researched, cogitated and deliberated for months until I found the ideal solution, it turned out to be the f800GS, It was the first new, new bike I’d bought.
It took me all over the place, off roading in the Pyrenees, to the top of Europe, to the bottom of Croatia and everywhere in between, never missing a beat on road or trail.
Fast forward a few years, I had an itch for a new bike; I‘d tried the GS1200, didn't like the boxer engine (still don’t), tried the 1200 multi but it didn’t quite ‘click’ with me.
Then I saw a picture of the 1200 Enduro Pro, it only came in ‘sand’ and there was a second hand one in Stoke Ducati. I got Mrs Kiddick out of bed and Told her we were having a day out, went down to Stoke, walked in the showroom and when asked if they could help, I declared “I’ve come to buy that”, pointing at the Pro. “I’ve just sold it on the interweb”, the salesman said, “which is strange ‘cos I’ve had it yonks” (I’m paraphrasing). “Have you tried the 1260 Enduro?” I said it was too much when the missus came back with:- ‘…there are no pockets in shrouds..” and that was it, it was everything that the Enduro Pro was and then some (including height adjustable which the 1200 wasn’t).
Here it is on the way home from the shop with 30ish miles on the clock:-
