I'm trying to reduce my overall alcohol intake. With the long drink I'm down to between 14 and 21 units a week now.![]()
Cooking whiskyI got 3 bottles for Christmas and one is a 1l bottle. It's ok as a long drink with fiery ginger ale.

Bought a bottle of this single malt in Lidl yesterday for £17-99.
Just opened it and it is good value
Lidl tasting notes say "Light, elegant and refined with attractive nuances of vanilla honey, cinnamon, creamy caramel and coffee latte. These enticing aromas are reflected on the palate with rewarding silky flavours of roasted almonds, sun dried raisins, moist banana cake and maple syrup."
I tried a Lidls "Islay style" smoky whisky once. It tasted like raw spirit with some colouring and a synthetic peat flavouring added. I struggled to finish it. Apparently they've won awards. I don't know why.I want ti find one that says ‘tastes of whisky’.

Remarkably similar tasting notes as this recent purchase....I got this from Aldi this afternoon £17.99.

I couldn't taste any of the flavours that it mentioned on the label but I have to say I don't think I've got the best palate.

Indeed, the Green Ginger Wine is for cooking fat Whisky as mentioned - all you have to do is ditch the WaterI'm not old enough to know that
I'll stick with a splash (a desert spoon in about a quadruple measure) of water thanks - I drink nice whiskey, I want to bring out the flavour, not change it.

I totally understand what you mean, I got sick on Raspberry icecream when I was 12, i am now 53 and the smell still turns my stomach!Last year in Donegal Dox and sharper or maybe John were drinking some nice whiskey I can't even be within smelling distance but my stomach turns due to poisoning myself 30 years ago.. It's mad how strong my stomach response is even after all these years![]()
