What do you guys use for cleaning your pride and joy. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Zymol, but got a mate in Stamford who's a professional detailed who works for Swissvax if you need any help.

like the autoglym for a liquid wax but prefer solid wax polish, find the stuff with the wee turtles on it is pretty good. Use Mir at work which seems good, but if your wanting just a quick polish at the side of the road, castrol do a spray on polish, which is very good

autoglym....did try some liquid carnuba wax that was pretty good

(just googled the P1 Nanocomposite Polish) looks impressive

I'm still getting over the surprise that theres a dedicated forum for people who wax vehicles,

I'm obviously not 'with it' in respect of the valeters parlance, (a friend was a valeter for Ford some years ago but to him it was a job and he never used any fancy words), was wondering what these bits mean? (bold)
Anyone?

Once everything was cleaned all bodywork was then clayed. The bike was then dried and the engine, suspension, forks and swing arm protected with ACF-50.

Next I removed the screen and steering damper so that the top fairing and tank could be fully machine polished. Paint readings were taken and necessary parts were taped up.

FWIW, I've always used car shampoo, (considerinng trying muc off, heard lots of good reviews) and Autoglym resin polish, armor all for the shiny rubber and plastic stuff.

I've used turtle wax, MER and Pledge (!) but Halfords polish won a Ride magazine test and it makes things shiney :)

A clay bar removes tar spots and impurities from the paint.

The readings he's in about is paint thickness. If you have badly swirled (scratched) paint they will measure how much paint is on there to see if it will polish out. Also good for finding filler...

OK, is that like using one of those magnetic body filler depth detector pens?

(though thinking about that you'd be pretty stuffed with CF or plastic panels)

There was a massive thread on some guy who did the full paint treatment on his basic blue Astra (I think) it sort of went viral a few years ago. I dunno if half the people were laughing or crying? Anyone remember or can find it?

Crystal Glo for me. Fantastic stuff, they do very good starter kits, look in 'thepolishingshop' on tinternet tha nors!

Unfortunately I do remember it. It was a white Astra VXR Nurburgring (with genuine carbon effect mirror covers.....). The guy was totally anal & totally stripped the interior to "correct" the paint under the carpets () & found someone had used marker pen to (presumably) show cable routing. He went utterly apeshit & complained to Vauxhall that his car had been vandalised. IIRC he only ever used Evian to rinse his cars & bought industrial quantities of it. Takes all sorts I suppose. If you really want to waste a few hours of your life, google "mark vxr" & a world of OCD will open for you.

Trttle wax stuff with red colouring left over from when I had a red Passat, which I only ever waxed once. This is the first bike I've ever waxed. Pretty though.

Showroom Shine, spray it on wipe it off then go out and ride the wheels off the bike cos that's what they are for:D

ohh I had a red Passat in my dim and distant past.... fantastic car but was never worth washing let alone polishing as it has that VW faded-red-to-pinkish bonnet on it  :D

I had a red 1500TS Passat. I thought it was the best car in the world at that time!

Seems to be a pattern emerging Foxy with you and non-washing of vehicles?:D
