Dark Matter on Apple. About a dude who invents a device that allows local travel between the multiverse. Kinda fucked up once you figure out that's what's going on.
Be glad we are where we are, things could be much, much worse, and somewhere in the multiple time lines, they have for you, based on the decisions you or others have made. Kinda deep.

I just rewatched The French Lieutenant's Woman on Prime after a very long break - I first saw it not long after the film came out in 1981. In the intervening time, I did read the John Fowles' novel on which it is based.
The Harold Pinter screenplay made Fowles' authentic (but somehow too faithful to a Victorian times ethic to be very enjoyable) novel very much more relateable to a modern audience. I mostly enjoyed the film except for one aspect - the performance by Streep as protagonist was horrible. Her terrible, terrible accent, her stilted mannerisms and interactions. made her character unconvincing, even incomprehensible, as a "love interest". Perhaps Streep was playing the part of an actress badly playing the part of a femme fatale was intentional but I seriously doubt it.
The resultant lack of chemistry with Jeremy Iron's characters, utterly essential to the plot, really showed and it undermined the whole premise.
A great idea for re-imaging the normally brilliant Fowles' slightly inferior material here did not therefore work. And I blame Streep's performance almost entirely.
Worth a look but file under "Oh, what could have been".

A better film is The Go-Between. Also a Harold Pinter screen play, and probably his finest. In Pinter's hands it goes from a period romantic melodrama into a psychological thriller. Pinter remains faithful to the plot of Hartley's book but reorders the narrative around dialogue between the characters rather than authorial description. The resultant character studies are intense, even dark, and their interactions charged with tension. You watch it wanting to know how all this will play out. And the lead actors, Julie Christie, Edward Fox, Alan Bates, Dominic Guard and Micheal Redgrave are superb.
I watched it years ago on a CD that came free in the Daily Telegraph. I'd just moved house and had no satellite dish fitted to watch TV so dug out some CD's. I wasn't expecting much. It didn't sound like my sort of thing but I found it gripping.
I’ve set it to record but I might end up watching it as Netflix is not working again.Not seen this movie, it's on Film4 at 9pm, it's the kind of movie i like!!

Loving the characters, even if some are naff (especially Monica who is the weak link imho)

Watching Zero Day on Netsux. Starring.....Robert DeNiro. Playing George, an ex-President called back to duty to save America. Holy Fukballs Batman what a libshow, ego stroking, pile of trash. But, I'm going to push through it. They even have somewhat Harris like President.
De Niro lost any respect I had for him after he openly questioned vaccines attributing to autism. Then backtracking on it. He has an autistic son.

I'm looking forward to this but although I have Prime, I'm waiting for the series to come out on a pirating site.Reacher Season 3 has recently landed on Amazon Prime.

Then you may like Furia on Prime. Set in Norway, great scenery very topical plot. The downside being the subtitles.
Don't mind subtitles if they're handled well. On Godland they were.
