Does this story not show how much energy we as humans waste on materialism? The person in the story was obviously wealthy enough to go to Everest. hire a sherpa, spend days or weeks climbing the Mt just for the thrill of snowboarding down a very dangerous hill. Just like all the billionares who died in the submersable looking at the Titanic. There is nothing on this planet that can make you happy, you are either happy or not. Some things can bring temporary joy but actual happiness is not a purchase. We have 1% of the population who have 90% of the money. There is no more value in money than what we put into it, more money does not equal more happiness. I have met people who have nothing yet they enjoy their lives. Society has made the world a horrible place where you work for 75% of your life in the hope that you will have enough money to survive the 15% you have left once you can no longer work. We dont spend time enjoying the life we have because we are working for a life we think we want. If people would just stop buying high end cars for a year, the prices would plummet, same with everything else, we hold the power but the marketing media constantly reminds you that the new Chevy Tahoe has 12 cameras and rear wheel steering so you trade in the current ride for another at 8% intrest. Same with the phones, do you really need the latest, greatest, will the extra 25hp on the new model make your life better or will you just have to work a. few more hours of OT to afford it just intime for the next, latest greatest to he realeased and then just 6 more weeks of double shifts, you will finally reach your goals and be happy? Spend your time walking your dog with your kids or wife or mates and see which you remember in 5 years. Did the new I phone make you smile when you remember it 8 years later or do you smile more when you remembet when you made turn 3 perfectly with just enough lean and throttle to get an incredible drive down the back straight. I know its hard to get some concepts across in text but we all know that doing what they want you to do is not going to make the memories that doing what you want to do will. Enjoy the life you have instead of the life you wish or think you wish you have.Does View attachment 141226
On September 8, 2002, French snowboarder Marco Siffredi reached the summit of Mount Everest (8848.86 m). But getting to the summit wasn’t his only goal — he had a bold plan.
He wanted to snowboard down the Hornbein Couloir, a steep and dangerous route that no one had attempted before.
After saying goodbye to his Sherpa, Phurba Tashi, Siffredi pointed his board toward the edge... and disappeared into the abyss.
He was never seen again.
....well one less annoying snowboarder... I bet he was a cyclist aswell.
