This photo spread all over the world and did not leave anyone indifferent.
This is 1987 the city of Zabsha in Poland.
The photograph captures the moment after a 23-hour heart transplant operation. Just imagine 23 hours in the strongest tension of the arms, legs, and the whole body, because a small mistake can cost the patient's life. And at that time there was no high-precision equipment that controlled the work of doctors. The operation was performed by a highly qualified
specialist, Polish cardiac surgeon Zbigniew Religa.
In the photo, he sits very tired and looks at the indicators - how the patient's new heart works. Even a day after the start of the operation, he feels a huge responsibility for himself. If you look closely, his tired assistant is sleeping in the far right corner. The photo so conveys what is happening in the operating room that it seems that you were there. The man lying on the operating table is the teacher Tadeusz Zhitkevich.
In 1987, he had acute heart failure. By that time, he had already experienced three heart attacks. He was already about 60 years old and all the doctors to whom he turned for help approved that at this age one could not withstand such a complex operation. But Zhutkevich could no longer walk and therefore wrote to Dr. Religa. Only three phrases: “I am a teacher. I have a sick heart. I'm asking for help." And the doctor agreed to help him. "Please come," the doctor answered him. The operation was successful.
The teacher lived another 30 years after her and left this world of old age at 91

Sample piece of 33000 Volt Oil Fillled Cable.
These cables were installed on the Southern Region AC Distribution Network from the early 1950's. The average cable length is around three miles, Substation to Substation.
The cables were pressurised with oil, which acts as an insulator having impregnated the paper insulation, and also a coolant. This sized cable was rated around 400 Amps.
As the cable heats up and cools down the oil expands and contracts, and is stored in tanks along the cable route. These oil tanks often resemble giant mushrooms.
There are pressure switches on the oil tanks which are remotely monitored in the ECR. On receipt of a Low Oil Pressure Alarm, arangerments are made for the cable to be pumped back to pressure, or switched out depending on the situation.
This type of cable is highly maintaince intensive, and has numerous environmental issues due to leaking oil.
A large proportion of these feeder cables have been replaced with XLPE.
There are still many around, but are being replaced with XLPE under a rolling program.

Here's an engine rarely seen since they were intended to be disposable. This is the 4 cylinder radial engine from a WWII German G7A torpedo. It ran on Decaline fuel (decahydronaphthalene), which was first burned using compressed air (stored in a tank onboard) as an oxidizer. The combustion byproducts were then passed through a device called a 'wet heater', which also introduced water (from a 57L storage tank) to produce superheated steam. This high pressure mixture of superheated steam and compressed air was finally sent through the engine to drive the pistons.
Since the entire internal combustion/steam generator system was self-contained inside the hull of the torpedo, it could run underwater. The 4 cylinder, 'X' type radial engine produced up to 350 horsepower at its maximum power setting, which was enough to push the 26' (just over 7 meters) torpedo (the length of a large van here) along at nearly 50mph while submerged.

"When a naked man is chasing a woman through a dark alley with a butcher knife and a hard on, I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross."

Dirty Harry had its UK release on this day in 1972.

Oresund Bridge Between Sweden and Denmark , Longest Bridge and tunnel in Europe !!
The bridge that comes from Sweden turns into a tunnel under the sea and reappears in Denmark; both countries united by this wonderful work of Engineering.
It has a total length of 16 kilometers and connects Denmark with Sweden through the Øresund Strait. The Oresund Bridge was built in 2000 and allows the passage of cars (highway) and trains between Denmark and Sweden. Before its construction, all traffic between the two countries was carried out by ferry.

This is a Tree that got hit by lightning and it exposed it's Vascular System. Nature is so complex.
A Tree’s Vascular System carries water and minerals from the roots up to the leaves, and photosynthesized food back down to the rest of the tree.
Interesting fact: Trees have no Muscles (or Nervous System) so all of this movement is powered by turgor pressure, which is controlled by stomata in the leaves that open and close as needed.
