Not sure if this was already in the last 1098 thread...sorry if it was :o If I wasn't completely in love with this new bike before...I sure am now!!!

Its not a patch on the Moto GP tricolore, way too many Ducati decals and fookin weird bronze blocky bit on the tank WTF is that about??, it should have been like this

Hmm, maybe I should get the 999 in for a repaint :)
 
Got to be honest and say it doesn't do anything for me in those colours, if I was in the market for a 1098 I'd have to get the standard S and buy some pipes, probably more expensive than the Tricolore (as this includes the pipes and ECU) but of the two I just think it looks better

Yes, the Moto GP bike looks fantastic but it's not really Tricolore. It is in fact red, green and silver and was commemorating Mike Hailwood's TT win of 25 years previously. The colours were that of his sponsor, Castrol. It does look fantastic though but I don't think my ST4s could really pull that off, even with a good paint job. :(
 
I'll better correct myself before someone else does. It wasn't his TT win because that was more than 25 years ago but it was definitely celebrating Mike Hailwood.

I got a feeling the 'bronzy' bit on the tank is supposed to be a fake 'instant fuel level indicator' - much like I have on mine (hey - they copied me!! :) )
however it does look a bit strange & out of place. After seeing the Desmosedici in the flesh last night, I think the Moto GP paint job would suit both bikes better - still stunning though! :)

Yeh I'm with you on that Ian...I want one of each please! That Moto GP bike is just unfeckinbelievable :eek: :cool:
 
Must admit,don't like the gold/bronze bit on the tank,but love the tri colour paint scheme, nice touch of green and white in it. ;) :D
 
as i said... santa comes in 25 days and we know how much he likes red things so maybe, just maybe if we're all good boys and girls untill christmas we might just find one in our stockings!
 
if he's got a magic key can i not get it sooner,mind u don't think iv'e got room for three,best he leaves it in the livin room ;) :D

I do like this and I almost like the red/white /green.
IMHO what is wrong with the Italian flag scheme is that instead of having the paint lines horizontally they should be at an angle so the white cuts across the tank (which would then be part red/part white...and lose the Imola pretend fuel guage!!) and the seat part white/part green or possibly leave as all white.
I do think it makes it look more instantly Ducati though.

now ive got this horrible pic of tam in stockings waiting for santa in my mind. Thanks nic youve managed to ruin christmas and the sexy allure of stockings for me know. ill never forgive you for that
