Traction Control

I was interested to read about the Diavel traction control on
The site the other day.
It struck me that it would be good to share any traction control
Moments that occur whilst riding 'normally' as I am guessing
that it does not engage that often on the road.
I have been gradually winding on the power to try to get some
DTC action whilst cornering and yesterday was 'rewarded' with
a slide big enough to set the bike undulating whilst it set itself
back up (I had nothing to do with this setting back up, simply hung on).
Needless to say, this experiment was quite interesting and has
started me thinking about weight distribution and tyre profiles...
My bike is tipped forwards by a few degrees after a tyre change slowed the steering.
..... But did the DTC engage? Did this save the back from coming out
completely and thus preventing a possible highside? My eyes were not on
The dash to check.
The bike was in dual helmet mode and down one click of compression
At the front, which makes it feel lovely to ride, sharp and responsive, exciting and still comfy.
I would be very interested to hear of anyone else who has had
Similar experiences on and Ducati with traction control, especially so
If you have managed to spot it engaging.

part of me doesn't even want task what 'dual helmet mode' is but carrying pillion ~:?

surely sheerly, if you managed to slide it in the first place the traction control must be set low / high enough so that it didn't operate ?

the few small slides I've ever had on a bike (I'm a pussy) have righted themselves after just hanging on (on bike without traction control)

I've had it activate a few times - mainly when accelerating in the dry and hitting a patch of gravel, or coming out of a roundabout in the wet.

Pre-traction control you would probably shut the throttle sharpish when this happened, DTC does exactly the same, but is a bit quicker than you would manage it. It's not as sophisticated as the cutting edge stuff in MotoGP though and isn't going to allow you to crack the throttle open without incident when you are leaned right over...

Hi Scotty,
.... Yes, mine was not big either, traction control set to
4, the sport setting for the Multi. But it felt big!
Any wobbles I have had in the past on bikes sans traction control
Have also sorted themselves out, however, it would be
Really interesting to hear if anyone has learned how to use it
Properly and ride on it to see where the limits are don't you think?
I suppose that the way to go is to set it to very sensitive and
Gradually back it off.

Hi Miles... Um, yes I think you are right.
The forward geometry on
my bike is now making the rear work hard too and there is a
Wider than usual strip on the front tyre as it's not rolling over the front so much.
I have been onto AMS this morning and will probably try the z8 / m5 Metz combination
With the original geometry. I like the M5 so if no joy with the Z8 190/55
I will put and M5 on the back too. The Z8 rears are still unavailable
As of last week anyway.
