I've yet to do a trackday (30+) where there have been any cones out, I would imagine that's more from a school perspective ESS (RIP) CSS (use big X on the tarmac)
You are right about the cones, I am thinking of the Carl Fogarty race school that I did at Cadwell a couple of years ago!

wow, thanks for the advice ladies n gents, really appreciate it, readin this is gettin me dead gidi now and i dont even know when it is :o

Davie, wot happened mate?, i've heard the odd dig at you b4 about hayfever.

In a nutshell......Woke up in the morning, took an anti-histimine, sneezed constantly till 3pm, took another anti thing, rode up to Knockhill.....sneezing, went on track sneezing, went into Clarkes sneezing going way too fast, through gravel and used head as brake on the grass! :dizzy: :dizzy:

Cost me a mirror support and new mirror/indicator unit

Good thread this, with lots of good advice.

Remember if you do go into novice and find yourself consistently faster than most of the others the organisers may move you into inters anyway.

Second thing that I don't think I saw mentioned was if, like me, you ride to and from the trackday remember to recalibrate your head. After a day of big lean angles and big numbers on the speedo the run home will feel like you're crawling when in fact you'll be going too quick to be sensible

Have tyre pressures been mentioned in this thread?

Remember to drop them a few PSI from your road pressures as they'll heat up quicker and thus expand more than on the road, there's also another advantage of a larger contact patch=more grip but possibly less feel

lots of schools of thought on this one. We've discussed it in previous threads. Depends on tyres, conditions, weight of bike/rider, preference and the list goes on.

I use Pilot Power Race - Medium Soft 31psi front & 30psi rear. But ignore that coz I run a 120 front and 160 rear.
