Track fairing purchase secured !

So I have now secured some Trackday / Race kit for the 749, fairing supports ( nosecone thingy ) Bellypan, side fairings and nosecone, also Mono seat unit, just need a damaged tank if anyone knows of any ???

It has been on a bike so all ready drilled etc !

So, colours, wat does anyone think, I am thinking.........................

White of course, however I think some blue flowers would go down well, a bit Hawaian stylee ???

Either that or Ducati red with white red and green flames ???

It has to be original rather than a race rep as I will be using these when I do my first race, whenever that may be !

How about some fake bullet holes to go with those flames
and some orange flames and then maybe some........ no no stop .
Whites fine.

go for the Tricolour ian, but do your own design.

Maybe the Tri-Colore, it would maybe a white base with the red and green flames, white flames outlined with bothe Red and Green pinstripe, alternate though, not together !

I do like flowers though !

Flowers on a bike would look tacky me thinks, very girly also, unless it was a English Rose.

flames might work well

colours will be the least of your concerns - elbow pads, sets of tyres, sprocket kits, zip ties, bungee cords, lockwires, footrests, levers, pads, man size tissues (it WILL go wrong), data sheets for settings, an observer/helper, gallons of energy drinks, painkillers, bandages, and a million other things. Touch up paint? Nah, gaffer tape. Have fun :)

One thing is for sure, I won't be in the lead, I will go for the nicest turned out bike award, ummmmm, don't think they have one of those awards though

All the above sorted, as long as my first round don't clash with BSB ! My leathers will be fine, tyres no dramas as long as its dry but have some wets, just don't have a spare set of wheels, gaffa tape, check ! Lockwire, no probs, an evenings work. Man size tissues are for cleaning the Fleshlight out at the circuit, never taken painkillers, don't intend to.

Energy drinks never been my thing, proper food and lots of water, only trouble is my Ashtma Inhaler, could be classed as 'doping' according to UK Sport !

Seen a few 'English Roses' end up being big thorns in your side !

Keep it simple ,Why stick out at your first race ? If you do well your one to watch , you do cr@p your a weekend warrior . Spray it black with some tastefull highlighting then fade into the background until the last corner of the last lap , then let them know your there ;)

Paint Job

Have you tried to get any sponsors yet? Asked your company? Offered to paint the bike in their colours with their logos? It's going to get expensive so you might as well get them on board. And from my recollection, that female head with long flowing hair logo would look quite good on the bike.

Don't like the English Rose idea
Do like the tri-colour flames one though

:D

I know you want to race, but before you spend money on a paint job you need to plan your budget and make sure you have some spare cash if it goes wrong.

My bike was pretty much race ready when I started, the only things I needed to do were shark fin and brake lines. I have loads of spares, WOW, spare bodywork etc etc etc

By the time I had got my licence, paid my race entries and tyres and one practice day I managed 2.5 races before someone punted me off and the bill came in just under £6.5k it worked out to something like £373 per lap.

I know its a chance and you probably (hopefully) won't get taken out, but you have to be prepared for the repair bill if you do. Imagine if the same happened, can you afford to have bike back on the road in a week?

Save all the cash you can and leave the fancy paint job etc until you have a bit of experience. You need to get to loads more track days to try some other tracks and it's gonna be expensive.

Who are you planning to race with?

Wise Words. :)

Don't paint it Ian!

Just leave it unfinished and chuck some stickers at it - save yourself a fortune in the longrun mate.

Yep, wise words indeed, not sure who I am going to race with, only just sent off for the day at Rugby.

As for the fairings my mate owns a car bodyshop and will paint them, I just have to do all the prep work, another mate is a vinyl sign maker so I won't be spending an awfull lot, if anything doing that.

Any suggestions what class / club I could ride the 749 in ???

I know the deal if it goes down the road, it is a risk I am prepared to take, I also know that I won't be taking any trophies home, just want to experience racing.

I am keeping an eye on e-bay and will be buying up bits and bats, clip-ons and footpegs, also looking out for a tank if anyone knows of any ???

I know that I don't have the racers mentality, or the skill, I aim not to be last though !

just being out there is the best feeling in the world :)

You will love it, I just wanted you to be realistic about how much it may cost you.

id love to do it but i just couldnt do it on the 749, i know id have to come off

a good few times in order to get better. . .
