..after languishing at the back of my garage for far too long I decided to put it back on the road.
It's needed some TLC from Ducati John and now it's almost finished. All being well I should be collecting it on Saturday. I prefer my 2 vlv motors, but I must admit I'm looking forward to getting back on this :)

Nice! I just put a 748 that was hidden in my mates garage for the last 4 years back on the road! I really love it, such a smooth engine by comparison to the 2v.

It did cost a fortune to get it back to scratch though between service, tyres, chain, shock rebuild (went after I gave it some hard riding), battery and other odds and ends!

Enjoy.

Ah well..the cost is increasing, but nothing I wasn't expecting after it being stored for >5yrs.... I shall post more on my blog at some later stage.

I was in DJ today to get chain/sprocket for 996.

Honestly, you can't tell (if you wear sunglasses and switch the light off) where the fire brigade knocked it off it's stand putting out the engine fire. T-Cut and duck tape works miracles.

No, it looks good for a yellow duc.:D

As it's a R it is, of course, faster by design :)

Looks nice, I like D J I think he is a good hand so whilst you will have spent a few quid you know it will be "right", I so miss my 748 which was only a BP so gawd knows what an "R" is like....enjoy it along side your "air cooled" ensemble, you can never have too many bikes on the road!!!:D

DJ has informed me it's alive.
It fired up no trouble at all - you wouldn't know it hasn't run for years. Apparently it sounds gorgeous :)

But only if you ride it.... :p

I think Nigel must have something against red Ducatis. Still a nice bike though, and it does look good, even when it's custard colour! :D

Red is a bit common. Yellow is for proper high performance Ducatis...gotta stand out from the crowd you know!

Its a lovely bike. You are going to fall in love with itI've had my 748 sps from new 12yearsjust coming up. I love it that much I have left it to my son in my will. and told him I will haunt him incessantly if he sells it.
I decided this year to spruce it up a bit so fitted a race fairing and single head light with H4 HID system.Large Carbon airtubes and a set of Ohlins Forks. I am waiting for my mirrors to come from the states specifically for the Duc with indicators in.

A coupleof pictures

It looks even more lovely now that I have washed off all the preservative and given it a damn good clean. John made the comment that every time he touched the bike he stuck to it :p

Anyways...new tyres on and I am off out on it shortly.

Utterly brilliant :D I had forgotten how good this thing is.

Within a couple of miles I was going from full lean to full lean like I'd never stopped riding it. Fabulous...and it goes like stink too.

Ahh, the joys of the 748R/SPS........

Been on hol for a week and have missed mine. Had to come to work on it today even though it was 4cast rain....
