It's got the wrong fairing. Did the later ones have a fairing like that?

I'm gonna guess that it has a 2004 or 2005 fairing. Perhaps it actually *is* a 2004/2005 machine, and it's just a typo.

You have to know a bit about STs to spot the clues but I don't think it's a 2002 model.
It has the fairing, forks, yokes and instruments from a 2004/2005 model when they got the facelift fairng with honda look headlight. It's not just a simple case of swapping bits over. The frame lugs are also different and to integrate the instruments which include the immobiliser you'd also need the whole Can-bus wiring loom and the ECU. Such a massive job it wouldn't be worth it.
So why is a 2004/5 model masquerading as a 2001 model?
Somebody else would like to know.
