So the 2010 GS style Ducati???

Freak

Is it still summer?
Should we talk about that now or wait 12 months? :D

I've got a couple of details so far i.e. 1200cc water cooled engine..;)

according to who and based on what? im genuinley interested in this, is there pics of it?

Was chatting to someone very VERY close to the factory today and it came up in conversation... it was launched to dealers a month ago at Milan but no cameras allowed so no photos :(

But was told wait until 2010 because it will knock my socks off

Honestly, it looks totally amazing! BMW should be very concerned.

Dunno about belt drive though!?!?!:dunno: :dunno: It's possible!

Why only BMW?
I filled a questionnaire in and said I went for KTM cos there was no Ducati equivalent. Seems they listened to me after all (yeah right!).

Now, if only they could get their prices down to same levels as KTM for plastics, bling and servicing then it would be more attractive.

i've got a 2007 BMW R1200GS. Hard for anyone to beat in my view for that type of bike. let's see. i'm no fan of brand stretch. ducati do monsters and superbikes. i think the rest push it. sorry to the fans of all the others.

Any truth in the rumour it is to be belt driven

Unlikely if it is a GS competitor Alan, the belt width needed means more chance of a stone getting in, if it a road biased bike it might be different. BM used belts on F800 S and ST but not on the GS800 series. Looking after chains touring is what put me off a number of bikes before I bought the GS, I even looked at the Buell Ulysses just because of is belt

It'll be interesting to see where they do go, the GS and Adventure are the market leaders for their all round ability to go on and off road for a reason and the new KTM SM990 with its bigger screen and panniers , Morini adventure bike, Guzzi Stelvio are all filling other niches in the v twin touring/adventure based area. Ducati have to get it right if they want to sell bikes, I'm not totally convinced they understand what these riders want or can deliver on. If they do get it right it'll be on my short list but its going to take a lot to get me to move from a GS as I'm sure it will for you to move of the Kaboum. its wait and see time....

The new KTM to rock a few peeps boats is the 990 SMT.http://www.ktmimages.com/image/view/28841
I test rode the 990SM and then reluctantly the 990 ADV. I loved the SM but feared for my licence. IF, they could have had the 990 SM, bit better rider protection and luggage capacity I would have jumped at it. But they didn't...and now they have. v-twin, thumping, rider protection (ish, ignoring the likes of PAN type stuff), it's ticking the boxes for me. Hopefully ducati are making full use of market research and not so much accountants (flame me for that).
Belt drive - twas a throwaway comment by someone discussing same project. Seems to have spread like wild fire and with a bit of luck won't dissapoint.

I think the belt association came about because of the 'link'? with HD but I could only see it working in a fully enclosed case especially on bikes like this

just got the use of a 1200gs adventure for the next 12 months. going to put quite a few miles on it next year and see what the fuss is about.

12 months will give you just enough time before the leaked photos of the Ducati 1200 AD (andare dovunque?)
And thanks to Jon for starting this thread, wasn't sure if someone was pulling my leg when I heard it originally.

2 Years in the length of my new bike embargo so it's looking good for me :D:D
I can just about wait that long I reckon. Hope the accommodation is going to be better than the Multi though cos I could just do with that bit more height between hip/arse and foot.
