I think this is as near as you'll get to a mainstream manufacturer doing it.

It is the X-factor version of new bikes.
Produce to a formula that will sell quick and dump it after a year and do the same again. Extra 100cc, 5hp more, slipper clutch, paint job, stick an "R" on it etc etc. Means the same basic bike will "last" 3/4 years but with 4 different versions.

Spoke to one of the guys who is involved in my "project" bike at the weekend and he is rushed off his feet producing work for guys who can't buy what they want off the shelf so are buying an older bike and getting it modified to give them what they want. This isn't just Italian stuff but British and Japanese as well.

The new Ducati Drivel might not be my thing but to be fair it is at least different from the rest of the range.

I have admired that since I saw it well over a year ago. It has changed a bit where it lost the paint on the tank and the "wrapped" exhausts but I never saw anyone advertising until now.

Even now it is nigh on impossible to find out who has one and prices and seems this may only get built as each order comes in?

Sandy Bloy at Perth gave up the Guzzi agency and I was told it was because he couldn't get anything from the factory be it bikes or parts. Not sure how true that is but sounds plausible.

hey you will all be glad to know that Vespa are re launching the legendary PX range again at this years bike show.
They chopped it too early, saw the indian version LML (vespa under licence) increase production to meet the huge demand around the world, and realised they werent getting as much money through licensing as they would through production.
Dont get me wrong im not suggesting it is a good bike. They are relaunching it in the exact same configuration as which they stopped making it, but it does appear that sometimes on rare occasions big companys will listen to where people spend their pounds:eek:
