As it only done 8.5k miles and the service history shows a service about 2 yrs ago but only 1800 miles ago I decided to give it a full on service before I entrust it to a few tours.. plus I enjoy getting to know a bike.
I picked up all the bits to service it including new plugs, belts filters and oil. (£120 for all the parts)
It took me longer to strip it down than to actually service it, spark plugs - easy.. (when I bought the correct plug tool), Oil filter - had to use the jam the screw driver through the housing method but ok...., Oil - Over filled it, but sorted, air fiter - Fine when i realised it had a direction for the housing to slot into,
now to the belts - I watched the you tube vidoe and red a few instructions and when it came to it it was... well easy to be honest.. Ive done 7 hour cambelts on cars before so this felt like a dream.. Any way all up to tention I rebuilt it enough to fire it up and away she went.. with a clunk cclunk chug..
My heart sank to realise it was in fact purly because it had been left in gear..... :comp2:
Any way job done.. and away she went a sweeter than ever.
Things to note were an unsual amount of filings on the sump plug, but nothing else really, spark plugs were evenly burnt and evrything else was sweet... only that the belts were in need of replacment and im relieved i did it this weekend.
It then took me 2 hours to rebuild the fairing...
I also took the opertunity to sort the suspension, ride height and gear linkage play and position..
All in all a good weekend and i cant wait to ride her again... and saved meself about £300... woo hoo
Any way shiny side up everyone...
