any Greggs in Aberdeen ?

looks like at the moment its me so no table needed just a steak bake and coffee ;)

I had fully intended going to this event since it is one of the few that is reasonably near to me but since no one else has put there name down, except Norman NoMates (Davcat), I won't be bothering.

And I was going go share my steak bake with you

Given the amount of Ducati's in the NE surprised at such a low response to this meet. That said I've never been to one and this will be my first and dragging the misses on her scrambler along. Guess we'll see who, if anybody, turns up.

People need to start using the Calendar to highlight their intentions.
Numerous times you see a couple of names & 10 turn up.

In my case, just assume I'm offshore :)

Always been an issue since day 1, numerous ways of encouraging people to use the calendar tried by the various committee over the years to help with planning and organising events. But people will be people. Some never put their name down but regularly turn up. :dunno:

Then there was one!

Well guys myself and another are here. He has a lovely V4 and I’m on a ZZR1400. Waiting to see if anyone joins us. 🤔

So five of us had a very enjoyable drink in the sunshine. Two front westhill; two from Huntly and one firm Kincorth. Hopefully more the next time. 👍👍

If you had added your names to calendar there might have been a few more!
Glad you enjoyed yourselves though :)

Hope this doesn't come across the wrong way but why should whether I add my name to the calendar make any difference to anyone's intentions to turn up? Sometimes you aren't the only one that "can't be bothered". I know there is a stalwart group of the club who drive things forward, and up here in the NE there appears to be a reluctance to participate, but I personally don't think using the calendar facility will address that reluctance. I don't have the fix and I'm not trying to get into a bun fight over this with anyone.

Suffice to say - nice to meet those who attended. See you on the road sometime.

I just think if you wake up on a Sunday, look at the calendar & see a number of names on it, then you may travel up to ABZ. If there are no names then its out on better roads to play. That's all that is being said by using the calendar.

Don't worry it's not a bun fight.

as the events organiser for many years I think I have a good standing to comment on this. As does Derek who was also on the committee at the time so knows how it works as does Dave now as he has organised events for the last two years.

adding your name to the calendar is VERY helpful especially if the event is somewhere that a table needs booked.
there's nothing more frustrating phoning a venue to book a table for 10 and they bend over backwards to accommodate you if a small or busy pub only for 15 to turn up and add extra stress to the venue staff trying to seat them.

but the main issue is adding your name to the calendar which increases the likelihood of others attending which.
I remember one social a few years ago (I think the kilmarnock) where only one or two people attended. Speaking to various members down the line it turned out about 10 were swithering on going but didn't because only 2 names were on the calendar

As Chiz says, if you see a number of names down for an event you are more likely to make the effort to go there. I know that quite a few of us have gone to an event, sometimes travelling a fair distance, to find that they are only one who has turned up. As you are aware Scott, there is no real solution to apathy, but we can try. So if you know you are likely to attend an event why not use the calendar?
