Scottish Bike Show

my point re honda was that they may be toiling to fill the show.not that it was bad not to have honda there.
but think on this, if honda have decided its no longer worth their time and effort in backing this show, how long before the rest of the big makes pull out and drastically reduce the size of the show???????.

personally i think MCN have bloody ruined this show. they bring up loads of "dealers" from england who only ever do shows so they have none of the costs or overheads that your local dealer has, and on the surface of it undercut your local guy,so your local guy stops going. with the business that he looses from the show, he eventually knocks it on the head, so you dont have a local dealer. remember when you buy from the local guy, if you get a fault with the goods you can always go back to him,you cant do that with some fly by night market trader. but thats only my opinion

We have now pulled out of doing cycle shows in the UK for exactly those reasons, too many market stall traders who's business is based on price not service. I had an email today trying to get me to do the Cycle Show on a special deal just because the organizers need the manufacturers to attract the crowd which they then need to sell space to the retailers. Most of us like a bargain but the current drive towards the ebay buy it cheap mentality will bite back, quality has to suffer but the brands offering quality product now can't compete on price.

One of the reasons I started upnorth and have restricted advertising is because I believe we need good dealers who provide service.

Saturday will be the first time I've been to a UK bike show for quite a few years and I'll not look at any stands (there'll be nowt I can't see at a dealer) , the only reason we'll go is to meet up with everyone...

Fantastic to see everyone yesterday at the show, and everyone who came back to ours for the wdw planning.

Hats off to everyone on the Ducati stand too - lottsa hard work there and it was great to see everyone again, and to meet you Lemoncello Debs. Thanks for all the hospitality guys, and I trust the heads weren't too sore on Sunday morning :D

One or two interesting things on show as well, Hypermotard and Tricolore made their first appearances in Scotland

The HM is teeeeeny and gorgeous!

We had a bit of a houseful after the show, and some great laughs and company with a few fellow DuN'ers - thanks guys, you made it a great weekend, hope we see you all again soon.

to quote Scott it was great to catchup with everyone again yesterday and have look about the show.

Many thanks to Scott n Julie for all their hospitality and putting us all up last night - what a great time we had and, luckily no sore head this morning!

Also an ENORMOUS THANK YOU to everyone for the cake, cards n pressies......... oh and the big red face that accompanied it when I e-v-e-n-t-u-a-l-l-y worked out it was for me :o :o :o
... all I can say now is roll on May and the tracknites :D :D

I'll add my thanks to that, it was great to catch up with some of you again at the bike show and later on at Scott and Me Jooleee's place.

Wish I'd been there for the pressie giving, sorry I missed it.

555 miles later through driving rain, fog and high winds I had to question was it worth travelling all that way firstly and secondly being stupid enough to do it on the bike

But Scott and Mejoulee made us more than welcome when we arrived, fed and watered us for the weekend and really looked after us, although the NV goggles were a bit OTT  ;)

The bike show was a typical bike show I guess by all accounts although the highlights were the Hypermotard and the Tricolore (which does look very good in the flesh) and obviously all the DUK guys and gals, and the folks at DG also.

Saturday evening was a laugh a minute drinking session with myself and Claire, Scott, Julie, DB, Paul, Lynne, Jan, Nic and the two dalmations (not what you might think but funny non the less) with only a few sore heads the next morning too...

Thanks to DB for excorting us over to Peebles/Moffat you made the right decision by turning round when you did too...
